Wow, is that the Irish 2000 Festival?  If so, Gaelic Storm is playing too!  They haven't updated the festival website yet, but I'm going to be keeping an eye on it!  Great find, Helen!

Anyone ever been to the festival before and know what it's like?

Even though it's 7 months from now, at $15 dollars a ticket and kids under 10 free, I'm willing to take my chances with something going wrong between now and then.

I was checking out the website and they got a decent hotel deal at a local Best Western. I think  it was $138 a night which includes bus transportation to and from the festival. (no drinking and driving). I think I am doing this.....

How flexible is the transport. Is there only 1 departure to get there when it opens at 10am and you're stuck there all day, or are there different times?

A wonder to behold!  Love it!

Just got this email from Irish 2000 and it includes this little gem:

"On Saturday we are honored to welcome our Festival Headline Acts Great
Big Sea on the Coors Stage and Gaelic Storm on the Traditional stage!
Great Big Sea is without a doubt the most sought after band in North
America, and does few if any Celtic Festivals. They are legendary in
Canada, where they regularly fill large venues and have 10's of thousands
of fans. Their mix of pop/celtic and powerhouse sea songs is a wonder to
    behold."

For those who like fiddle/violin music, I recommend you catch Barrage on Friday there - quite a show with usually around a dozen (or even more) violins going at the same time.

Altamont NY - Sept 20 - Irish Music Fest

Just noticed that the boys are going to be playing in Altamont on Feb 20th... along with Carbon Leaf on the 19th and Gaelic Storm on the 20th as well... Makes for a fantastic line-up.

Question though - wondering if anyone is familiar with this festival?

I noticed under the "hotel package" link that it talks about an "AOH After Party"... does anyone have any clue what this is?  I don't see mention of it anywhere else in the site - so curious whether it's worth the extra money to pay for the hotel to get this ticket... or to find someplace cheaper to stay...

    any ideas anyone?

Thanks Anne - although I still have no idea what that is? lol

(maybe will try to google it)...  am just considering the festival since you can see all three bands... plus alot more for only $25 for the two days. Seems like a great deal... and the drive down isn't too bad.
