Barb spoke to 1 of the guys about this or maybe the tour manager. He said the 3rd week of June.

From when I was talking with Kris - sounds like a full Canadian tour wont be happening until fall or winter.He said probably festival shows this summer (like Stanely Park ect.) then a US tour then a proper Canadian tour.  But it's not for sure, as he said he's the last to know.

Thanks for all the stories/pics of the cruise, everyone.  It looks like it was incredibly fun.  Didn't have anyone to go with this year, but if GBS is aboard next year, I'm simply going to have to beg or bribe someone to come along. :-)

Alan said it was coming out within weeks, but someone else on the board said their manager said June.  So I guess we'll have to wait and see!

I think I have Show # 2 and # 3 right -- I don't think I got them backwards, but I know they made some changes, too.  I can't remember exactly what they did but I know they did The Chemical Worker's Song (Process Man) in the third show.  Maybe some other OKPers can fill in the rest.

 You flipped shows 2 and 3. The kiwi in me was happy to hear 6 months on a leaky boat by Split Endz- I was the only one around me that new that one. On the set list (at least Sean's) it's typed as six mouths - and we couldnt figure out what it was before they started playing it.  Also they cut out Excursion and Fortune b/c of all the antics with Ed.

I wasn't sure whether or not I got the two mixed up.  It was pretty hard to remember with all the changes they made to the sets.  Of course, they were a lot of fun.  I think my husband and I were the only ones around us who knew the Split Endz song as well.  Our daughters didn't have a clue about that one!

I just couldn't remember what was changed in each set - they all blended so well together!

Thanks for the responses.  I guess like Terri says, we'll have to wait and see.  It would be nice if it were within weeks!  I'm trying not to think about it too much -- I can't wait until it comes out! 

 I really hope the 1-2-3 song that they played in D.C. last spring is on the album.  I haven't heard people mention it lately, though, in concert reviews.  I think it was my favorite of the new ones they played -- although I liked them all.     

Yes, I talked to Louie their manager, and he said June for the new CD. He said something else that I didn't entirely catch, but I interpreted as there would be singles before that (for the Canadian audience at least...). ~Barb

I know for the Sail Away show (2nd show) they sang Mermaid -- the night before we asked them to play it and to our surprise, they did, though I"m sure others asked as well, too  And they also played Six Months in a Leaky Boat. Were those in place of Penelope and Scolding, though I thought Mermaid came earlier in the setlist?

All in all, three wonderful shows with lots of new fans generated.  I think that's what made it so great -- you'd hear so many conversations in passing about how wonderful Great Big Sea performed!

 They did gain alot of new fans... there were a number of people who had never even heard them before.

Did you all fill out your survey that the cruise sent?  I am pushing for GBS to be invited back again next year. They were the best on the cruise in my opinion so would be fantastic to have them back again next year!

Have you been to the S&D message board? one of the threads over there is "what new music did you enjoy" or something along those lines, and there are so many people replying with GBS!  (and CL). Makes me quite happy, and really, it was worth being late to the BNL show to see the end of the GBS show on the Lido Deck.

thanks Becca and Kim - hadn't been on to check out the ships and dips site since I've been back... but will put in my two cents there as well. I was surprised how many people HADN'T heard the boys before the cruise... but didn't come across anyone who didn't love their shows.

I've got my tickets for the Atlantic City show - am making the 10 hour drive from Toronto down to Jersey to see them... should be a great show.

Did anyone figure out when their new cd is supposed to be out???

I loved seeing GBS mentioned so many times. (and mutiny if they aren't on V!)

Pollstar is also showing a show scheduled in Aug in Akron, Oh.  Sure hope that's true and I hope that more Ohio dates (Columbus) are added.

One of the neatest part of the cruise was to see the reaction of people seeing GBS for the first time.  GBS got off that ship with many more fans.
