    Re: Akron in August?

First time posting, but I’ve been a GBS fans since I first worked as a stage hand on their stage at an art festival in Newark NJ about 9 years ago. (Got the cassette single of Mary Mac and have not stopped listening since.)  Have seen them in Minnesota and Cleveland and now am very excited about the Akron date.

Having only lived in the Cleveland area for four years, I have not gone to Akron for anything yet.  I am planning on taking my kids (5 & 7, GBS fans as well shades) to the show and am looking for fun things to do during the day prior to show.  I know there is the zoo and art museum, but does anyone know of anything else that a family would find fun?

Thanks and look forward to the show.

I’m hoping to hear Goin Up this time round. Then again I always am!

Is this show confirmed?  I don't see it listed on any of the ticketing sites.

My wife and I will be driving down from Rocky River, Ohio.

    Re: Akron in August?

Made our room reservation today at the Radisson City Center. Also spoke with a nice lady with the city of Akron who, when I asked if they do presale for Lock 3 shows, asked which act I was inquiring on. When I told her, she said (seeming suprised) that she's fielded about 150 calls from across the US and Canada and that they've NEVER had this kind of response to a band before a show. I told her that the b'ys sold out the Southern in Columbus for the last 2 years (2800 seats +/-), she said that the venue seats 5000.

I think they're starting to realize that something different will happen for this show. As the people on the phone couldn't believe how many phone calls they had about this show. They keep saying that the venue has never sold out. Well... It may be a first!

For the b'ys to sell out a 5,000 seat American venue would be something else for them, too!

    Re: Akron in August?

I can't believe GBS is playing so close to home for me and I won't be there.  It's a real shocker... and I'm bummed!  (But not enough to cancel my plans for Milwaukee Irish Fest!)
