    Re: Akron in August?

Hey Sarah - there are a number of shows on pollstar that haven't been confirmed yet... I think most of them are in the plans... but they probably wait for signed contracts or the like before they post them here.

So it sounds like it's going to be Akron and then Philly the next day.

I'm not familiar with the Akron venue though - is it big or smaller in size?

(Am trying to choose my shows carefully since I prefer the more intimate concerts... unlike the one up here in Toronto which will be huge)

    Re: Akron in August?

I've never been to the venue in Akron, but my uncle Kevin (PiperKev on the OKP) might know more than I do, since he has his pipe band practices in Akron.  I'm getting really excited about Akron because I just turned my 10-year old nephew on to GBS less than a year ago and I would love it if he could go to the show with us.  He would have a blast, and I would get a solid chance to really be the "cool aunt".  Haven't had much opportunity with that since his dad moved then to Michigan.

    Re: Akron in August?

From the looks of the rest of this place's schedule, we'd better hope it's not "a tribute to Great Big Sea." Surprise

Well, in any case, 90-some miles away...I'm there!

     From the venue's website...

Tickets for Lock 3 Park Events:
Performances are FREE on Friday evenings. Most Saturday concerts are $5 per person, and children under 48” are free. Event ticket prices vary. Tickets may be bought at the gate with cash only and gates open one hour before show time.
Well, it'll be interesting to see how that works out...  hmmmm....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!!!! In the words of Peter Griffin: "Freakin' sweet!"

Think the powers that be at Lock 3 should update the promo picture to one without Darryl, though.

Oh, there will be consumption of mass quantities THAT night, I can tell you!

Well that will be a nice birthday treat, indeed!

Jeremy Fisher is opening for them in Akron.  I am going to see him in April with the Proclaimers...I don't think I will be able to keep a straight face when they play 500 miles -- I hear that song now and I just see Ed and his speedoBig Smile

Even though it isn't "official" here on GBS.com, Kris McFarlane has the Ohio gig listed on his site as a GBS show, btw.

nova, after participating in GBS sing-alons and THAT, I don't know how you could ever hear the Proclaimers do their own tune with out being in hysterics!?

    Re: Akron in August?

Quick question:  Has anyone here ever been to the Lock 3 Live! Park??  A few aerial shots I've seen seem to indicate that it's grassy lawn up to the stage.  Are any chairs put out for concerts??

    Cheers,

    Kevin

    Re: Akron in August?

Absotively Kevin and I will be there!!!!!

Others I know are going in our group are my dad, Kevin's daughter Catie (I'm pretty sure he told me she was going) and my nephew Devon.  On the Maybe List are Kevin's wife and my other aunt and uncle, and two of my friends (one GBS fan, another who's ripe for assimilation but maybe not serious about going.  Too soon to tell with that one.).

    The more the merrier!
