Beautiful artwork, Brittany!  I love that song too, even though it's a little bit depressing.

One of my favorite lines in a GBS song is "pile your boots up in the corner, hang your jacket from the door, there's thirty people in the kitchen, and there's always room for more!"

Because my son has had to deal with so much adversity in his life, having Asperger's syndrome, this line reminds me of him and is my favourite...'...they can say what they want, she won't stop trying ;She may stumble if they push her 'round, she may fall, but she'll never lie down, it's not so bad'.
Some people shine like a star in the first moment. Others keep their light hidden until they are ready to show us.

I agree with that. That was my theme song when we were going through the worst with Alex.

Re: Are we gunna sing some songs?

I always forget about this one until i put the cd in and listen but it speaks volumes and is a fun song:

"It takes a lot to get to the top, And a little just to fall off quick
And I think I've seen you here before.

Sometimes you fly so high, So fast it makes you sick
You won the battle and lost the war

But I don't mind if you say, Every time you talk to me
    Every time we talk

    We came, we saw
    We conquered and crumbled
    In our own true way
    We loved, we fought
    We rocked and we tumbled
    In our own true way

    ............................

You heard 'em tellin' stupid jokes
You heard 'em laugh every time you spoke
But you don't let nobody put you down."

It's been a tough  time  for me  healthwise these  past  18 months(arthritis and  COPD),  but  things  have  started  clicking  and  I truly feel  as  if I am stepping  out of a  fog. Things I thought  I had  lost  forever, dreams  I  had  been  forced  to set aside...  I can now  see  the  Possibilities that  life holds. Much of the  last  year and  a  half  are still  shrouded in  a  mist and there  are  literally  parts  I have  no memory of,  but I am so  thankful  to be  where  I am  at This Moment. So the song  that  echoes  in my heart.....

"Fog  lifts to reveal potential.............Feel  it  turn......"

    Everyone  sing  with me!!!

"Half an hour of sunshine is worth a week of rain." "Shines Right Through Me" from Something Beautiful "'Cause they said they'd stop the fighting And they said they would bring peace And they said they'd find a serum that can cure all our disease. And they said they'd house the homeless And put black and white in tune And they said they'd feed a hungry child And I hope it's someday soon" -"Someday Soon" from GBS [debut]

With the Presidential elections coming up, that's a song to be thinking about.

Heh, if we're looking for a theme song for that, I nominate "Nothing Out of Nothing."

If nothing else, no matter what happens, I'll have a great excuse to say, "Shag it all - I am moving to Canada, eh!"

Re: Are we gunna sing some songs?

good idea for a thread for sure....

the work it is hard and the hours are long...but my spirit is willing, my back it is strong...and when the works over the whiskey we'll pour...we'll dance with the girls upon some foreign shore....(Wave Over Wave)

i think this verse sums up life and how everyone should look at it in 4 lines, who knew it was that simple.

It's up to you now if you sink or swim,

just keep the faith that your ship will come in- it's not so bad !

Way hey hey it's just an ordinary day- it's all your state of mind

At the end of the day you just gotta say it's alright!

Can't tell you how many times a day I sing this (sometimes out loud..in front of other people!!)..I've given it to alot of my friends too.

Re: Are we gunna sing some songs?

Let it Go Let it Go
This is smaller than you know
No bigger than a pebble lying on a gravel road
Let it Go Let it Go
Got to leave it all behind you
Give the sun a chance to find you
    Let it Go

How can a man not see
It seems so clear to me
You've just got to live and learn
    Smile at the simple stuff
    This road ain't long enough
    To miss a single turn
