It's so beautiful in Nova Scotia.  My husband was almost as annoyed with me there as he was when we were in Ireland.  We'd be driving along and I'd say "stop!  I need to take a picture!"  He got to the point where he'd just slow down as soon as we were approaching a particularly scenic spot.

Plus, the bars in Halifax were so cool.  I only went into one, but on the Harbor Hopper, much like Boston's Duck tour, we went past several other bars that looked so nice.  That's why I've decided that all of my friends should accompany me on a Halifax pub crawl for my 40th birthday.  Fortunately I've got more than 2 years to work out logistics.

I love Boston.  I met my husband in Boston and we tend to go up there just about every summer, but Nova Scotia was really great.  I just wish it was closer.

For the record, I love Long Island more than Massachusetts and Nova Scotia put together! 

The Halifax pub crawl...the finest kind...all ages 19+ welcome. :) The energy of the ocean is what I love best about where I live - coincidentally 10 minutes down the road form Sharon.

Why do I love where I live?  Well, in addition to being loads of fun with great museums, theatre, art, fabulous restaurants, tons of music and art festivals, and a beautiful lakefront, the thing I love most is it's in the middle.  Yep...  right smack in the center of the country.  I was able to travel to St John's, Newfoundland one weekend and Vancouver, BC a couple of weeks later with minimal jet lag.  Cool. 

And despite popular opinion, O'Hare Airport really isn't all that bad.

My husband was in Chicago last weekend for a business trip and he can't wait for us to go back for a family vacation.  He thought it was such a great, clean city.   I think he just wants to go back during the summer to catch a Cubs game! 

This tread is quickly becoming a list of my favorite vacation spots, past and future.  Now all I need is for Fran to post about Montreal (I love Montreal) and maybe we can get some people who live in Ireland and Disney World to join the OKP!

Absolutely!  He called from Chicago to tell me how nice it was and suggested that we all go back some day, and my answer, of course?  "OK, we can go the next time GBS plays there!"    Hopefully it will be during the summer.  Wrigley is a must see as far as we're all concerned.  Maybe we can catch our Metsies there. 

My top 3 priorities when visiting Chicago: 1. hang out with Kim 2. catch the Cubbies 3. tickets to Oprah (how likely or unlikely is that?)

My part of the world has been captured in song:

"Oh Beautiful for spacious skies for amber waves of grain, for purple mountains majesty, above the fruited plain!"

and

"Oh give me a home where the buffalo roam, where the deer and the antelope play, where seldom is heard a discourraging word, and the skies are not cloudy all day!" 

That is what it is like here.  Really.  And I love where I live. 

Since i was a little girl I wanted to grow up and live in Colorado.  In the summer of MY 27th year, I found my way here, coming HOME to a place I'd never been before.  And with out ever really planning it.  It just happened.  I have lived longer in CO than I have ever lived anywhere else in my life.

I love being in the country, 15 miles from the nearest traffic light, and yet only 25 miles (30 mins) from downtown Colo Springs and 60 miles (just over an hour) from Denver.  We are just 6 miles to a very small town.  It is about 2 hours to some of the best skiing in the US, and some of the most beautiful mountain vistas.

My drive to work every day sends me down a road with deer and antelope, looking at Pikes Peak.  35 of the 60 miles of my drive to school in Denver is a lovely country road over the high plains, past a buffalo herd, through a gorgeous valley, over a deep canyon.  Past the spot where  "Oh Beautiful" was written.

The spacious skies, the purple mountains majesty, the frutied plains...THAT IS where I live.  And I love it!

I look at Pikes Peak and the entire Colorado Front Range of the Rocky Mountains every day.  Colorado gets more sunshine than California and Florida, and very low humidity.  The high altidude blue of the sky is deep and clear and crisp.

I live in a small old ranch house on 5 acres of mixed high prairies and ponderosa pine.  We have wonderful neighbours - not too close - but close enough in an emergency (like a 4 ft snow storm - which we get regualrly!)

We have deer, elk, coyotes. fox, bobcat, racoon, skunk, hawks, herons, song birds - everything!  We have gorgeous sunsets, incredible BIG skies, we can see the Milky Way every cloudless night.

And our landlord wants us to stay here forever, and so do we.  She says to consider this place our own.  We have a wonderful relationship with her.  She is one of our neighbours. 

We are very lucky to be here for so many reasons.  This is the place we got when we'd been homeless and living in a hotel.  We've been here for 6 years now.  It is HOME.

I'm goin' Straight to Hell-On-Wheels!

Western Washington looks and sound alot like Nova Scotia.....ocean and mountain views, and great salmon! I live on the west side of Puget sound, so Seattle is nearby to take advatage of city living....theater, concerts, great restaurants, and diversity. My community is semi rural, many people still describe their homes in how many acres they have! We happened here accidentally- my husband was in the military, but after our first week here 8 years ago, we both knew we never wanted to leave! My daily coomute affords me gorgeous snow capped mountain views, lots of evergreen trees, water, and on sunny day, Mt. Rainier. We really get the best of both world here, urban and rural!

Only 2 weeks ago, I drove down Chuckanut Drive. It sounds like you are describing someplce very similar to that area. 

I can see why you love where you live, lattelday!  I love where you live too!  It is beautiful there!

The only thing better than being close to the mountains, is having the mountains and the water in the same place!

New York City born and raised-need I say more? We got all that and then some!  (that includes rings Red Sox fan) - sorry couldn't resist, I'm really a Met fan. I would love to travel north of the border ,cold water or not ,and I actually love the state of Massachussetts (if only I could spell it!). I've done lots of hikes up there,
