*big BUMP* to this poor thread languishing on page 3 ...
I have to admit I've been in a GBS funk of late. It think it was mostly post-last show realizing how long it might be before I get to see them and hear them again live. It's taken multiple listens to Road Rage and the other live cds to pull me out of it.
It was listening to Fortune's Favor this weekend for the first time in a few weeks that I thought it just needs saying .... that record has some wicked awesome drums in it. Yes, the songs grab you by the throat and hold you there. The arrangements are in your face and in your head for days. The vocals have you on the edge of your seat. But man, those drums just carry the day. Imagine it without them and it would crumble like dust in your hands.
Hats off to Kris, the oft-unsung hero of our favorite band. Another reason to be thankful this season.
