An earring back or piece of eraser... brilliant! Thanks, Cathie!

My poppy fell off no less than twenty-five times today. I was starting to wonder if I should have worn a denim shirt because the pin just wouldn't stay in the knit-style fabric I was wearing! Gah!

    Re: The George Street Café

How's everyone doing? I'm doing pretty good, just super worried about my Grannie, who had an emergency trip to the hospital today and just came out of surgery. Even though it's thanksgiving and my birthday today, my thoughts and prayers are with her right now.

    Re: The George Street Café

Happy birthday, Ruthie. Hope your grannie gets better very soon, and hope you had a fabulous day!

I'm waiting for some snowy weather. Hopefully it gets here before Christmas, because I can't get in the shopping mood without the appropriate temperatures. Not complaining - it's been beautiful - but the holidays are coming much to fast!

Does anyone have a light dusting they could send my way?

Thanks for the birthday wishes and well-wishes for my Grannie.

I wish I had some snow I could send you. As much as the weather's been nice, I love winter and snow, and want it to arrive already! It's been a strangely warm and snow-less fall in Buffalo this year.

    Re: The George Street Café

We got a 'light dusting' this morning, but the wet sloppy kind you clean off with a squeegee instead of a brush. Even my kids, who are very young, were excited at first, but then quickly decided "it's not the kind you want to play in"!  Personally, I'm happy to wait until mid-December for any you'd use the term 'accumulation' for.

Hope Grannie's ok.  I've run out of grandparents, myself, and loved the ones I had dearly, so I worry by proxy about other people's.

I just drove back to work with my window open. That's right. November 27, 2009, I cruised down the highway with the wind in my hair. That HAS to be a record here. Wink

Loula, I know exactly what you mean. No matter how much I think I should explore the world and try living somewhere else, I know I would miss here. It's all in what you're used to. I love the water, the rocks, the trees. I love the scenery here, and the weather, no matter how awful it can be. It's beautiful! Big Smile

    Re: The George Street Café

It finally snowed here today. I woke up and looked out the window to see everything white. I love that first look out the window at snow that fell during the night. It was just a few inches, and by now it's almost completely gone, but it was fun to wake up to it this morning. Smile

We have snow too! *Happy dance* My Christmas spirit can come out now.* Big Smile

The only downside is: I have an out-of-town meeting tomorrow and the first few snows are always the worst. People forget how to drive in the winter (even though it happens every six months!) snow on the highways hasn't hardened yet.

So... has everyone started their shopping yet? I'm looking forward to checking out the little stores tomorrow. There's a fantastic flowershop that sells some really unique stuff.

*I will regret saying this in... oh, about a month. Brushing off my car every morning and wearing clunky boots instead of heels gets old really fast.

    Re: The George Street Café

Shopping is pretty much finished.  Not really going all out this year, but then it is only my son and I.  The tree is up with the lights and garland.  Decorations go on tomorrow, and when I get some money I have to replace the topper because it died.

I know that I haven't been around here much lately.  I am sad to say that as much as I enjoy GBS and their music that I'm tired of the crap that gets passed off as being 'devoted fans' and such behaviour being condoned by the PTB.  As a result, I come around these parts rarely with more and more time between visits.  I was once a fairly active member of the forums but things have changed and not necessarily for the better...perhaps it would have been best to have shut the boards down back when the fate of this board was being bandied about.  But that is just my opinion.

Bonnie - there are a lot of hot potatoes in this Kitchen, for sure.  I just drop them.  Leave them to the bottom-feeders.

My biggest present this year is the knowledge that my family will be satisfied with my "Christmas presence."  They know I've kind of been floundering, and won't flip if I don't give them a mountain of stuff.  And they know me well enough to understand that I'll know exactly what they're doing when they humor me by playing silly games with me, and won't hold it against me when they realize they're actually having fun. Smile

    Re: The George Street Café

You are always full of good advice, Columbine ^_^  I know I shouldn't let it affect me but it just gets so frustrating...especially when new fans come in and think that certain behaviour is acceptable.  I'm a fan of the music first and foremost, and it just bugs the heck out of me that there are people that treat the b'ys like pieces of meat.  I know that it's the price of fame, but it doesn't mean I have to be comfortable with watching it.

    Ah well...such is life.
