The show in Edmonds should be interesting, and all kinds of awesome! He has coined a term for me though...Great Big Theism. So what if I sing Let It Go like a prayer it has a good message. Right? I'm happy with him! Love, Loula

Re: The George Street Café
Mmmmmmmm stuffed mushrooms....I love stuffed mushrooms. My favorite
hors d'oeuvres recipe is for baby bella mushrooms stuffed with blue cheese. I make
them every year for my birthday. Unfortunately, this year my birthday
is on thanksgiving, so there won't be enough room in the kitchen with
the rest of the thanksgiving feast. I guess I'll have to make them some other time instead. Thank you everyone for the hugs and good thoughts.

Re: The George Street Café
I am looking for those poppies they sell in Canada around this time of year. Has anyone in the Golden Horseshoe area spotted them yet? Thanks so much!

Re: The George Street Café
yep, they're everywhere. I got mine at McDonalds, but they're at most convenience stores and many other places too. I've actually got a few stuck to the ceiling of my car.

Re: The George Street Café
Various coffee shops and cafés also have a donation box at the cash. Then of course you can follow me around ;-) No sooner do I buy one that it falls off. That's okay because for every poppy I purchase, more money is donated.

Re: The George Street Café
I've got the same problem, plus, this time of year, one never knows what coat to wear. Hence the collection in the car. I wore one on my hat for a few years when my kids were still small enough to need carrying.I didn't want them to get poked and scratched by the pin. I asked couple retired padres I know if this was ok, or if it was too disrespectfull. The answer was essentially that the important part is to remember the purpose of the poppies, not to strictly adhere to protocol. The Legion puts them around, if anyone is looking for a larger quantity. Lest We Forget...

Re: The George Street Café
Best way to hang onto them (and not stab yourself) is to remove the pin, grab one of those Canadian flag lapel pins they give out on Canada day, and stick that through the centre. Makes your remembrance patriotic to boot (and that doesn't stop you from giving money a few more times as you pass the tables to cover the ones you would have lost :)

Re: The George Street Café
I agree with that. Earring backings, a piece of eraser, they're all good. Of course when I'm out and about, and pick up a poppy in mid-late October I get one whenever I see a box. I haven't preplanned it, stick it on my shirt. 3 hours later - gone. Thus the cycle continues. Why break with tradition Today was a day that I was very proud to work for the company here I'm currently employed. Memorial wreaths were in the lobbies of their main offices across Canada, flags were flying at half-mast, the company intranet had pictures and stories of staff members that served in WWI and WWII (this company is well over 100 years old), and current staff were reminded in company bulletins to take their moment of reflection and remembrance. I see too much in today's society where such things don't happen, that it was comforting to see such an important date being recognized respectfully.
