I was just thinking...uh hmmm...the guys are at home, with no shows scheduled....I wonder what is happening on the new album....Smiles

I'd love to be a fly on the wall in the Great Big Studios ...

I'm sure it would be entertaining as well as educational. I have a feeling you'd also fly off thinking "I really didn't need to know and/or see that". They are a group of men in their natural habitat, after all.

I'd like to be invincible and sneak into GB Studios...imagine what one would hear...we'd know all the songs before they even came out.

I for one think that hearing/seeing the b'ys in their natural habitat would be pretty d**n cool!

I've been thinking the same thing recently.  I'd love to get myself a new GBS cd for Easter, or for Victoria Day, or perhaps for Canada Day, or Thanksgiving, or Halloween which would be tres cool. Perhaps when Bob posts next he'll mention something about it.

Girl, you are gonna get yourself arrested! lol!

I think you mean invisible, don't you?  As in, no one could see you??

Or maybe you do mean invincible-as in no one and nothing could harm you?  So you wouldn't get hurt when security throws you out on your backside??  lol

But seriously, I know what you mean, I'd love to be a fly on the wall and have a sneak peek into the proceedings.

Yeah, little typo there. I meant to say invisible. embarrased

It would be cool to hear some more Ryan's Fancy tunes.  My wife and I fell in love with Dermott O'Reilly's Candlelight and Wine.  Could be a good song for GBS.

    Re: NEW ALBUM

Candlelight and WIne is nice (already recorded by the Punters) but I think I'd rather hear "West Country Lady." Love that song!

    Re: NEW ALBUM

I am really looking forward to hearing the refined studio versions of Walk on the Moon and Hold On for Your Life, and of course, STH.

I am just sooo curious as to what else will be on the album with those 3 !!

I think the guys need to do a "From the Studio" Podcast or something!  Give us a little taste, a little teaser...about the new album....

    Re: NEW ALBUM

    Hi Anne,

Is West Contry Lady on the same album (Dance Around this One) as Candlelight and Wine?  If it is the one I'm thinking of, it is a great song.  That would be cool to hear a cover of as well.

I like the Punter's version of Candlelight and Wine, but I have a feeling GBS would do something very different than the Punters version.  A little less punk/driving rock maybe.

I hope Play the Game makes the new album.  That's awesome.

    Re: NEW ALBUM

I recall, a few months before TH&TE came out, some one found an article or a quote or something in which one of the band members let slip the name of the forthcoming album.

I am NOT a Googler, and definitely don't have the time....but I wonder if there's been any mention of the new album title anywhere out there....some unknown article with that quote just waiting to be stumbled upon.

I am still fond of  Alan's quote "Great Big Sea:  Rock - Planet Earth"

    Re: NEW ALBUM

Spring 2008? Oh, I don't know if I can wait or not. I need to learn how to be an absolutely great recording engineer and go set up a world-reknown studio in St. John's and then offer to let the b'ys record there for nothing more than credit in the liner and then I'd be able to hear all the songs early on and possibly have access to the master copies of the CD's before they get near the presses and .... (trailing off into oblivion)

Or, I can sit patiently on my hands and just wait like everyone else.

Well, I guess it's back to the archives for a while.

    Peace,

     Joe

    Re: NEW ALBUM

I must say that I too am waiting for the new album and will be one of the first in line to buy it.  I really hope that Say you will will be on the new album.  I love all Sean songs but that one is definitely one of my favourites.  That pod cast is #1 on my MP3 player and I listen to it whenever I can.  I haven't been able to get to one of the concerts with the new songs but am going to the one in TO in November so hopefully they will play some new stuff then.

    Re: NEW ALBUM

WORKMAN DONS PRODUCER'S HAT- from the Newfoundland Herald (Oct 14-20)

"He's rocked George Street and the Delta Ballroom, but alternative rocker HAWKSLEY WORKMAN is in Newfoundland these days with his producer's hat on.

Spotted last weekend at St. John's Airport with Séan McCann of GREAT BIG SEA, Workman, known for such albums as Lover/Fighter and Treeful of Starling,is in town to help produce albums from both that band and HEY ROSETTA!, a representative from Sonic Records has confirmed.

It's expected Great Big Sea, one of this province's most successful bands ever, will go back to a more rocking sound on their upcoming album, the followup to the tradition album, The Hard and The Easy. Their last rock record, Something Beautiful*, was released in 2004." -Kevin Kelly

There's a little more to the article, but the rest of it talks about Hawksley Workman and Hey Rosetta!.

Great news on the new album!
