An african swallow maybe....but not a european swallow..that's my point...

but then of course, african swallows are non-migratory

so they wouldn't be able to bring back a coconut anyway

wait a minute! suppose two swallows carried it together?

no, they'd have to have it on a line....

okay, python's play time is over LOL

I went to the amazing concerts on the Labour Day weekend in Vancouver and Victoria, money in hand, ready to buy my shirt. I was surprised and disappointed that there were only mens shirts when so many Great Big Sea fans are women. I really wanted a shirt so went home and made my own. The opening act, Jeremy Fisher was so impressive that I made myself a Fisher shirt as well. I placed some picture in the Photos Forum.
Glad to see I wasn't alone in wanting a shirt cut for a woman!

I saw your shirt designs. Very nice. A great idea. I think I will resort to making my own T-shirt next year too if the next batch of merch offers only baby Ts or one-size-fits-Paul shirts again. What type of transfer material did you use, Judy? Iron-on?

I'm also hoping that the new shirts will have more selection as I  do want a "real" Great Big Sea shirt instead of one that I make at my kitchen table.  I use the Staples brand t-shirt transfers for dark fabric and have been happy so far.  I tried the transfers for light colour fabric and found they were to thin and didn't hold up as well.  Make sure the shirt you use in 100% cotton, many ladies shirts have a touch of lycra or spandex in them.  Good luck and have fun!

    Re: new t-shirt style

OH! OH! they should put witty lyrics on there.

I know Gaelic Storm has t-shirts with "Its not what you're thinking, it wasnt the drinking, this man died of 'tirst" its like the "in-joke" analogy Alan made for new yorkers, well EVERYONE wants to be in on the injoke.

so if they made shirts with "The upper part was an ugly fish, but the bottom part was a girl" t shirts, it would provoke random passerby's

"WHAT THE CRAP IS ON YOUR SHIRT?"

    "Well, let me explain..."

after about five minutes, thanks to the handy dandy witty t shirt, GBS would have a new fan!

or "My ex vacationed in Harbor Leceu"

    "Four Gos-,  F*** ME!"

    "Shave: it's a noun"

    Re: new t-shirt style

How bout just "Here Fishy Fishy..." across the back? :p

I would love something that showed GBS and Newfoundland pride all at once. I'm often tempted to sew my Newfoundland (Republic) flag patch on my hoodie's shoulder.

Also? I would love love LOOOOVE a women's zip-front hoodie (in voluptuous sizes of COURSE!)!!! Don't get me wrong, I love my warm fuzzy SB* hoodie, but...it kinda looks like a potato sack on...plus it has that balloony cut with the fitted waistband...which make it look even more sack-like. And I've just always liked zip-front hoodies, they're easier and tend to look better, I have like 3 of them; the only pullover hoodie I have is my GBS one. So yeah, as long as we're tossing ideas around, a slightly more feminine cut hoodie with a flat waist like on a shirt, not that balloony sweatshirt thing. And wouldn't the shoulders be a great place to have a little flags printed/embroidered/whatever? :) Newfoundland Republic, Newfoundland Provincial, Canadian...leave that up to the band.

HEY HELEN! I got an idea for your next contest!!! If it's cool with the b'ys and their management/publicity/PR/whoever people, why not have a GBS t-shirt or hoodie or both or whatever designing contest eh? The winner could get their design produced and up for sale, and a free shirt of their design! We've got a fair amount of artsy folks here, heck I majored in costume design, I'd enter for sure! :) Just an idea!

Yanno, I think I'm inspired to make a shirt regardless now. Thanks for the time and cost saving tips! Smile

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!!! ... Oh yes, please! With a contest like that, no matter who actually wins, which doesn't matter a fartin' hill of beans anyway, all the contestants would end up with their own great self-fashioned GBS prototypical hoodie, or whatever, to wear. Yah! (Yanno...assuming each person makes one prototype of their design.)

In fact, hang the contest. I'm going to make a cool hoodie next year. Thanks for the grand idea; consider it borrowed!

    Re: new t-shirt style

heck we could go couture. a little lace here, a little embroidery there. PROJECT RUNWAY GREAT BIG SEA STYLE! instead of a fashion spread, we could win, like, a private kitchen party or something!

I got an idea... a hoodie... but the hood is made out of... FISHING NET!

ok i have been couped up in front of too many screens today: between the OKP and Project Runway reruns i am puckered out.

flamboyant fashion designers and folk-rock can make one messed up individual!

WOW! Love that t shirt.  Wish I had the tools to do the embroidery.  Gifts like that mean the most.  Well done.
