Our Captain, he cried out "Come on boys, lend a hand."
Our cook he makes the breakfast and each man takes a dram.
With our bats in our hands, it way early for to go.
Every man showed his action not the missing of a blow.

Laddie whack fol the laddie, laddie whack fall the day.

What would you say, if I said:

MARY-MAC'S MOTHER WAS MAKING MARI-MAC MARRY ME....

    Re: Sing a long

    I'd say:

My mother's making me marry Mari-Mac.

    Re: Sing a long

There's a neat little lass and her name is Mari-Mac
Make no mistake she's the girl I'm gonna track
Lots of other fellas try to get her on her back
But I'm thinking they'll have to get up early

    Mari-Mac's mother's making Mari-Mac marry me
My mother's making me marry Mari-Mac
Well I'm gonna marry Mari, for my Mari's taking care of me
We'll all be feelin' merry when I marry Mari-Mac

    Yoo-di-iddlie-aye-di-diddle-aye-di-diddle-doe!
    (or something of that nature)

PS: Oddly enough, we learned this song at a summer camp I worked at when I was fifteen. We changed some of the words, though. A case in point: "Lots of other fellas try to get her... back." So funny, hearing a bunch of seven-year-olds try to sing this song. Gotta love it!

    Re: Sing a long

Now, Mari and her mother are an awful lot together
In fact you hardly see the one without the other
And people often wonder if it's Mari or her mother
Or both of them together I am courting

    Mari-Mac's mother's making Mari-Mac marry me
My mother's making me marry Mari-Mac
Well I'm going to marry Mari for me Mari's taking care of me
We'll all be feeling merry when I marry Mari-Mac

    Oh-di-diddle-aye-di-diddle-aye-diddle-doe!

(When I try singing the chorus with the b'ys it sounds more like this though:
Mari Mac's MMMMMMMMMMm akin' mmmmmmmmm ary me
    My mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mari mac
well I'm gonna mmmmmmmmm f mmmmmmm care 'o me
    we'll allbfmmmmmmmmmmmmm ary mari mac

My mouth just can't move that fast!!!)

Well up among the heather in the hills of
    Banoffee,
I had a bonnie lass sittin' on me knee,
A bumblebee stung me right above me knee,
Up among the heather in the hills of Banoffee!

Mari-Mac's mother is making Mari-Mac marry me,
My mother's making me marry Mari-Mac!
Well I'm gonna marry Mari-Mac for my Mari's taking care of me,
We'll all be feeling merry when I marry Mari-Mac!

( I was very proud of myself when i managed to sing this whle song, at the right speed. Not very well, but its one of my favorite accomplishments!)

    Re: Sing a long

Since this song is a long one and doesn't seem to be going anywhere, I think I'll start a new one, in celebration of tomorrow's big release.

My name is Captain Kidd, as I sailed, as I sailed,
Oh my name is Captain Kidd, as I sailed.
My name is Captain Kidd and God's laws I did forbid,
And most wickedly I did, as I sailed.

    Keep it going, people!

    Re: Sing a long

    My Turn!!!
I've had a hard day and I need to unwind. I'll sit back, close my eyes and let the sweet sound of my new favorite song fill me...
Of course the image of this being performed live is dancing in front of my eyes...
I Never thought anything would replace Boston and Saint Johns...but it has.

I was just the age of sixteen
When I first went on the drive
    After six months hard labour
    At home I did arrive
And courted with a pretty girl
'Twas her caused me to roam
Now I'm a River Driver and I'm far away from home

    CHORUS:
I'll eat when I am hungry
And I'll drink when I am dry
    Get drunk whenever I'm ready
    Get sober by adn by
And if the river don't drown me
It's down I'll need to roam
For I'm a River Driver and I'm far away from home
    be safe,

    Re: Sing a long

    I'll build a lonesome castle
    Upon some mountain high
Where she can sit and view me
    As I go passin' by
Where she can sit and view me
    As I go marchin' on
For I'm a River Driver and I'm far away from home

    *good choice!*

    Re: Sing a long

    Thanks!
I still am surprised when I get goosebumps listening to that song...
I can't get enough of it. Kinda like when I first heard Boston and Saint Johns. Someone here said (I forget who) they found it hard to choose between Hearing Alan sing Boston or Seeing Alan sing Boston. That's how I feel. I think if I had to choose I would say See, because I can hear it in my head.
Thanks for this song boy's - it was a very special gift from you to us!!
    be safe,
    eb
