Ok, folks, I need some help...

For the love of God, why can't I find a street map of St. John's online anywhere?! I can do little zoomed section of the city via the municipal website and Access St. John's...but I need an actual decent map so I know where I'm going...also can't seem to find a route map for the Metrobus. Help?

When I went a few years ago, we stayed at MUN, outside of downtown. I'm pretty sure that we never took the same roads in or out.

While that may be seen as confusing, you could think of it as "all roads lead to St. John's" and be comforted. Wink

    Branwyn,

Ok, as the map queen, I must jump in here. When are you going to St. John's? I have a city map that I could mail you if you want. These things are pretty easy to come by in Canada, so I can always grab another when I go back to Newfoundland.

Also, www.metrobus.com has route maps and schedules. My only beef is that they're all shown separately. I'm not sure a map with all routes even exists.

Delaney, if you're willing to pay my flight to St. John's, I'm so there. I'll climb Signal Hill a bunch of times with you.

'Cause there's no need! Once you find Duckworth, it's like you've lived there your whole life and you always knew your way around. If all else fails, look for the ocean. Chances are you're facing east and you just have to decide where to go from there. Wink

Seriously though, if you go into the Don Cherry's restaurant in Mount Pearl and look frazzled enough, they give them to you for free.

Promise me you'll see Petty Harbour though. I swear to Bob that is the most beautiful, rugged place in Newfoundland.

You're singing is beautiful, BTW. I think I shed a tear... Or maybe it was just my ear drums bleeding. Do me a favour: Stick to broadway. I'll do the singing... After all, I'm not in the least bit dramatic. Razz

    Amanda,

The maps you seek are widely available all around town. Right on Duckworth down from Fred's at the tourist place, and lots of other tourist stops.

    Huh??? What? *baffled*

Thanks for all the info and the linkage, everyone! Buff, I'd say send me the maps, but I leave for St. John's this Sunday, so I doubt they'd get here in time. Thanks though!

Re: I'M GOING TO NFLD! Help!

Amanda, when you go check in at the hostel, the guy there will surely give you a basic street map of St. John's, and a whole bunch of info on where to go and what to do.
Signal Hill, the hike is well worth it, trust me on that. The veiw if the Atlantic from the top of the hill is absolutly breathtaking. Oh, and the Habourside Park, very nice, there is a dock that you can venture out on. You have to go to O'Brien's too, just give yourself a lot of time when you go there.
If you can cook, there is a fish shop on Duckworth, just head in the direction of George St. and you will see it. You can get cod tongues there that you can cook up in the hostel kitchen.
Oh, I just looked this up, Siochana is going to be playing in Bridie Molly's on Dec 10th, I saw them once and they were amazing. Make sure you go there, they might go 'Great Little Sea' on you, lol. Wink
And if you want to be screeched in, Trapper John's I heard has a good screeching in.
Thats all for now, make sure you have fun Amanda!!! Take a lot of pictures!

Steve, you will be missed, Mate.
