    Re: Vancouver in September

Oh yes!  This is going to be one fantastic weekend!  I got my tickets a few days back, and now this road trip is totally consumming my thoughts, well, when I'm not working, making costumes, running the backstage of a children's production and the like, lol!

The only problem I have is that I have 2 extras to the Friday show, and I don't know which ones to sell.   They are both in row 11 Center, but the seats are 23-24 or 33-34.  I can't seem to figure out where these seats are.  I might prefer to be on an aisle so I can dance, and stuff.

Can anyone help me figure out the seating?  And does anyone want the tickets I can't use?

Opps!  Justforbuying is me.  I was having trouble changing my account info, so I created a new account for buying things, hence the name.  You can reply to me here on this thread, or to mkzwoodATshawDOTca

    Re: Vancouver in September

If I've read the floor plan correctly, those are *both* aisle seats .. 23 on the left side of the centre seating block, and 34 on the right.  Good luck selling the tickets .. I'm trying to talk a couple of friends into ferrying over, but so far nobody is biting.  I couldn't even get my wife to come for the show -- in row 2, yet!

Thanks for the info Tamsen!  You know, if you have extra row 2 tickets for either show, my sister and I might be interested.  Feel free to PM me!

So where is everyone pre-partying for Saturdays show?

Are people up for meeting up at a location downtown?

I would like to suggest the new and improved Atlantic Trap and Gill. A taste of the Maritimes in the heart of downtown Vancouver.

I am planning to be there for 2 ish.

    Sound like a plan??

Only a couple more sleeps :-) It's been way too long.

One of my friends had to bail on Saturday's show. So if you need a ticket let me know. It's general admission.

    See you all there.

    Re: Vancouver in September

I went to the exact same show in 2006.  You are correct.  They perform on an outdoor stage that is within a park... it's really neat!  Lots to see/do while you wait for the show to start.  Some will line up at the gate to the concert area long before the show starts (don't even remember if it was GA or assigned seating.  And watch for them to do soundcheck...

AND TID BIT FOR ALL... you can EASILY walk BEHIND the stage (at least this was so when I went) and also behind the stage is a trailer thing where I, assume, can relax and chill out before the show--not big by any means, but hey.  Sean walked right past me and Alan said hi out one of the doors!  I didn't have a clue who Sean was... or Alan... it was my first GBS show and I laugh at how I knew nothin'! HEHE!

I won't be going this time, but the other person I was with in 2006 will be there Sept 12!!  :)

Hi!  I'm Ttamsen on LJ..  I'm pretty sure I remember you from Conflikt this year, with solarbird.  Were you the one who was absolutely staggered by the fact that everyone there (a) knew of (b) enjoyed and (c) bellowed enthusiastically along with Great Big Sea when they were mentioned in open filk one evening?  If not, I apologize -- whoever it was sure looked happy. :-)

I'll be at both shows, wearing either a Defcon or Can't Stop the Serenity shirt, so feel free to wave hello!

     -Steve.

    Re: Vancouver in September

They played the Mermaid Song tonight! I nearly died of happiness :D And Straight To Hell too, I've been waiting for them to play those two songs since I saw my first show last December. I have a pretty good video of the Mermaid song including some fabulous dance moves by Sean, I'll have to post it up on youtube (although maybe not tomorrow, since I'm going to that show too!)

I hope everyone else had a great time too!

    Re: Vancouver in September

Hey there Steve/Tamsin, wow yeah, Solarbird and I were indeed at the last Conflikt! Dara spent more time in open filk than I did, but she was definitely teaching some GBS to folks. You may have seen her then. Or, you may have seen me belting out "Old Black Rum" and being hugely startled when another person actually not only knew the words, but jumped in to sing harmony!

Look for us at the show tonight! Dara and I both will be wearing hats, and I'll have on my maroon Fortune's Favour shirt. Dara's got long dark hair and I've got long blonde hair. :) We'll be aiming to get into the line by 4:30!
