In all seriousness, I think Dave Barry hit it when he said that it's not that the voters don't care, it's that the election process is so ridiculous nowadays that everybody gets confused and either doesn't care who wins because the campaign ads are so outlandishly stupid, or they don't want anything to do with it because all this election crap gets shoved in their faces so much that they just want to lock their doors, curl up in a corner and shake like a wet chihuahua until it's all over with.  Also, when your only choices are (in Bob's words) a nob and a buffoon, what's a voter to do?
