    To quote Bob, "F**k me!"

Interesting... it seems I quote Bob often. Wink

Sweet pic of Bob and Murray, Krista.

They really need to play Winnipeg again soon. I'm still hoping they'll come to KENORA and play Harbourfest, but it's a dream I've pushed to the back burner and try not to think about too much. Disappointment might kill me come April. Lol!

Oh. My. Bob.... for old times sake.

Ducking in after a too-long absence ..... to Bob fans especially and anyone else who may be here as well ... Do check out a little gem of a news article posted by GenTaylor in the "In the Media" section. The thread is called "Sea Change" and it's a piece with a Q&A interview with Bob talking about how/why the band makes their music. Refreshing. New. Not just canned press release quotes strung together to do a preview before a concert. And it's always a treat to read what Bob (or any of the boys) has to say about making music.

Hop on over there and enjoy. It's almost like having a new "soundtrack" to read.

    Cheers,

I agree.  I was nice to have something fresh to read. I know our Bob has a hard time thinking of content sometimes for his soundtrack - perhaps there are questions interviewers never seem to ask that he'd like to give us answers to?  They often seem to ask the same  thing.  I wonder if Bob, or any of the others, ever thinks "why don't they ask...?"

    Re: It's All About Bob

This is the adaptation of the song French Perfume, as written by me:

The myth of Jack Ryan and his contraband is a well known one in Newfoundland circles. It originated in the town of Jack's death- Spanish Room- and has been passed around for generations. This is the story of Jack Ryan and his contraband that never made it to its intended destination.

It was a cold winter's night when Jack Ryan set out for Newfoundland from St. Pierre. His ship was loaded down with contraband, which at the time included perfume, smokes and rum. The fog was thick that night and Jack hoped that it would be thick enough to get in and out of Newfoundland with his contraband safely, but alas, this was not to be.

As he neared Mortier Bay, the Mounties spotted Jack. They shone an enormous spotlight on him, which made night appear to be day. They told him to stop and surrender, but Jack was not about to listen to them, and get arrested. Stupid Mounties, thinking that they could stop him; they'd never take him alive.

Instead of listening to the foolish Mounties, Jack turned his ship around, set the engines to full power, and headed towards Spanish Room. It was a place that he knew well, and he figured he would be safe there. Those cops would never go near the rocks there; it would be too dangerous.

As the Mounties drew ever closer to him, Jack began to laugh manically. They'd never catch him. He would never go to jail, not if he had his way. He pushed the engine ever faster, and with a crazy smile on his face, headed for the dangerous rocks of Spanish Room at a speed of 50 clicks an hour.

As he did, the seagulls began to cry loudly, as if sensing Jack's demise. With one last look back at the Mounties; Jack crashed his ship into the rocks, catching everything afire, including himself and his precious contraband.

To this very day, the residents of Spanish Room say that on the rocks near their town, you can still hear Jack laughing, and that if the wind blows the right way, you can still smell the scent of his French perfume in the wind.

Loula, you need to drag your BF in here. A male Bobite would definately shake things up a bit. Personally, I've yet to meet one.

    Re: It's All About Bob

C'mon! It would be fun.  He'd be like "Hey... she's really into this Alan character," and I, just your average Bob-loving supergirl, would swoop in with a "Hey, how about Bob, huh? Long hair or short? Beard or no beard?" and he'd totally forget that you're obsessed with Alan.

It would be fun for everyone. You wouldn't be hiding your Alan love. And we could look at all his pretty pictures!

I know. I live in a small everything-comes-back-to-Bob sorta world.

Oh, Anne, you party animal! You always know how to shake things up. Surprise

I still have this hanging above my bed. I must say, it's made of very durable material. Six years there and it still looks as nice as the day I got it. But I should've ordered 10... one for every room, and maybe a spare or two? Big Smile

    Delaney,

When I went to the Folk Festival, I had orders for a dozen to send out. The lady looked at me like I was crazy. What did Sean call it? "Bob's porn project?" LOL. They never did a bodhran one. Our loss.

    Re: It's All About Bob

LOL! I bet half of the calendars sold went to GBS fans outside of NFLD. Big Smile

When I first heard about it, I was stunned. "They would actually make a fundraiser out of that?" And then I wanted one, but was too embarassed to go through the whole ordeal (at 14, mail orders are a tough thing to do sneakily). And finally, I just swallowed my pride and sent out the money order. By this time, February was loooong past. But I still love it. It makes an interesting conversation piece, to say the least.
