Having fun searching thru my record collection! Found a couple of obvious ones but wanted to use this space to plug some folk some of you may not have heard of. So, this time around... | I had the blessings, a moment of peace even when the night ends, | | Yeah the blessings, can we meet? Can we meet again, | | At the crossroads of disaster and the imperfect smile, | | With the angel in the streetlamp that blinks on as I walk on a mile, the blessings. | | | And the best ones were the ones I got to keep as I grew strong, | | And the days that opened up until my whole life could belong, | | And now I'm getting the answers, when I don't need them anymore, | | I'm finding the pictures, and I finally know what I kept them for, | | I remember, I can see them, see them smiling, see them stuck, | See them try, I wish them luck and all the blessings. The Blessings by Dar Williams (from Mortal City, 1996) There's quite an informative fansite (.net) and she also wrote/ recorded a track, "O Canada Girls" Mark Oh, and the next word is ~ roof |

Raw wood shack hunched in a field, windows and the front door long gone … Roof’s all caved in from the weight it used to yield, six cats scattered on the step, one gives a yawn …"That's Your House"- The Dust Rhinos (from "Up Your Kilt", 2003) Next word is "Surround"
Your witty slogan here. Cheap rates, enquire within.

Without our stories or our songs, How will we know where we've come from? I've lost St George in the Union Jack, It's my flag too and I want it back. Seed, bud, flower, fruit, Never gonna grow without their roots, Branch, stem, shoots - we need roots. Haul away, boys, let them go, Out in the wind and the rain and snow, We've lost more than we'll ever know, Round the rocky shores of England Roots by Show of Hands Next word; attraction

"Oh England, my Lionheart I'm in your garden, fading fast in your arms The soldiers soften, the war is over The air raid shelters are blooming clover Flapping umbrellas fill the lanes My London Bridge in rain again" Oh England My Lionheart by Kate Bush (from 'Lionheart', 1978) Showing my age here, but I bought this on cassette when it was first released. Can still remember making a special trip into town with my parents and feeling so excited in the shop! Was a big Kate Bush fan then (&still am) - her albums got me my first girlfriend; I lent them to a friend of my sister's, which immediately gave us something to talk about, etc, etc... Wonder if the same approach would still work these days...? Mark next word can be: shop (or store) ps: Nina, great post for 'flag' - love that song; has some real feeling in it. That and 'Country Life' are probably two of the best modern protest songs (that's protest in a gentle, understated, English way!)
