Thanks! Mar
Oh, I definitely didn't take any pictures during the show. I will bend the rules enough that I can have my camera with my for post-show pictures, but there's no way I was taking any pictures during the actual show. No way. Oh, by the way, Sharn and I were in the front row, the far left of the centre section. Which is why I wasn't going to take any pictures. It struck me as slightly impolite to so so from so close up. I didn't want to get singled out by The Doyle (which ended up happening once anyway, but that's another story.) But those who did take pictures during the show, please, PLEASE do post them. BTW, my pics are now officially posted in the Photos section. Enjoy!

Well now that is kinda cool eh? Small World. We were sitting two rows behind you near the isle towards the wall. I kept watching your little guy trying to figure out how old he was b/c I wondered if my 3 year old would make it through the whole concert. I am trying to get tickets for Mississauga, Hamilton or Kitchener now to bring her b/c your son looked so excited. We will never get seats like that this late in the game though so not sure if stuck in the middle some where would work for her. He must have been thrilled about the drum sticks was he?

I'm SO with you there Angie, and I refuse to give up hope that the B'ys will one day make their way to Australia. Laura, LUCKY GIRL..... I get butterflies just thinking about being that close to Alan. Thank you for the review. ~ Mac.

K', got some time, finally, forgive the stream of conciouslness that this is bound to be, but I'll just be typing as stuff occurs to me, not trying to write in a way that befits someone who minored in English.
Lots of cute banter back and forth. Sean pretty much trying to sell his brother to the highest bidder, and/or convince us to buy stuff so that the could get new shoes, the operation he needs, whatever, I forget all the details, it went on for a while and got quite silly. Sean and his brother look alike, tho the brother is taller. Bought a grey GBS t-shirt.
Loved Alans story about his 91 year old grandmother."Still playing with that band Alan? So (sympathetically) you're not workin'?" Then he added "And she's right!!"
WHAT IS UP with people not dancing?? In the front row, had to be concious of those behind me, and SIT THROUGH I'M A ROVER!?! That's just WRONG!!
Felt very self concious and conspicuos right up front so didn't let loose as much as at Niagara Falls, Aruial has no such inhibitions! She was definately dancing like no one was watching and singing at the top of her lungs! I had almost as much fun watching her have fun, as watching the boys. (almost, I said) Also, there ain't a bra on the planet that is up to the task of making GBS induced vertical movement not HURT!!!
I'd like to point out that I identified what Alan was playing as "Innocent" before Sean did. nya-nya!! Coupla times Alan seemed to forget what he was supposed to be playing and just screwing around until it came to him. dunno if that's what really was happening or if it was planned, but I was mildly embarassed when I said "Whatcha doin', Doyle?" JUST as he looked right at me. And he answered "this is a C chord." doh!! Whatever you want baby, mary had a little lamb and I would eat it up!! Dont' mind me!!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the "wallpaper" shirt Bob had on, (so sue me Delaney!) not one I'd seen before, but one Aruial says she'd seen before. It was off white with denim blue paisleys on it. very nice with bleached jeans (but for the love of Pete man, get some boot cuts!!)
Sean had a blazer over his red shirt (button-up, not T) Looks GREAT in red!!! Sean really seemed to be having a great time, dancing and such. Had this show occured when I was still a new fan and sitting on the fence, I might have come away from it a Shantyfan instead of a Doyleophile. He was really quite adorable throughout. Big SAP that I am, he actually made me CRY with graceful and charming. I was mortified.
Loved the bit with Bob looking like he was going to say something, then shaking his head and backing off from the mike. Alan said "we're not worthy!"
Alan was wearing a black shirt and blazer for the first set too. Made some jokes about there only being 2 blazers, that they are going to rotate around throughout the tour. Both blazers were gone for the second set. Too hot I guess, I know I was roasting!
Alan seemed self concious about his tummy. Kept tugging at the front of his shirt to pull it down. And yes lets face the fact that there is a tummy there. Just makes him cuddly IMHO.
He mentioned that he usually tries to suck in his gut a bit, but the configuration of the theatre meant he had to worry about his backside as well. No worries there, m'darlin'
Murray and Kris seemed to have more stage presence and enthusiasm then they did at Niagara Falls, but that could just be because I was so mesmerized by the Doyle NYE.
Walked RIGHT PAST Murray and Chris in Stratford, Ariual was telling me a story, and I didn't want to, like ELBOW her or anything that obvious, so they just....went by. (which Aruial beat herself up about for the whole rest of the day!) I would have smiled and said Hi, but Murray avoided eye contact-I told him so later, he said he was likely intent on whatever Kris was saying. And actually, he DIDN'T break my sharpie, that part is SUPPOSED to come off.
Alan dropped the cap to my purple one, Ariual picked it up, but I didn't know she had, so spent some time looking for it, when I should have been gazing in adoration at you know who. Oh well, there is a purple fingerprint on the barrel of it, that could be mine, or could be his. gasp.
Why didn't we get pics with Murray??? Did we lose our minds??
Aruial seemed to get lots of looks from the stage, but I couldn't tell if it was "hey look, her hair is red and her bonnets blue" or "What's the deal with the chick with the bonnet" Either way, no comment was made, she tried to hide it, but she was dissappointed. So, boldly (and maybe obnoxiously, says my guilty concious) I said to Alan after, did ya get the bonnet? Her hair is red, her bonnets blue? He claims he did, but I'm not so sure, and she was somewhat gratified when he said "Bonnets are underutilized these days!"
Who was the guy in the blue and red rugby shirt that made a point of waving at us, was that you Rexx?? We had finally decided to come over and say Hi, when someone sat in the row in front of you, and we would have had to climb over them to get to you!
I'm already forgetting what happened during which song, I'd have to take notes, but whatever song it was the made Aruial and I break into a spontaneuos can-can (after the do-si-do failed miserably due to lack of space), she says we got an approving nod, I missed it. Cursed hair in my face!
Dunno if it was my imagination, but Alan's butt seemed to be draggin' a bit during the show, a LOT afterwards. Tired? Grumpy? coming down with whatever it is that's going around? Something on his mind? Again, maybe just my imagination.
I'm sure there's more and I'll post as it occurs to me, but have to go see what's making that burning smell that's coming from my kitchen!
All in all, it was a BLAST!!
In the social order, I accept the bottom rung, until the wine is pouring and the Lord commands a song!

I'm with you.. I may have to stop reading the reviews. If I keep seeing that they don't do Charlie Horse I might not want to go anymore... Okay .. sorry momentary lapse of sanity there, it won't happen again. I'll still go but I might have to pout a bit after the shows

Yeah, I doubt I'll be selling any of my tickets if it doesn't turn up on the set list in the next week...but I'm hoping that at ONE of the SIX shows I'm seeing it will make it to the stage! I really want to see that "galloping guitar" live! Janeill <Days to Vancouver: 7>
Life is not a journey to the grave to be arrived at in a beautiful and well preserved body, but rather to slide in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a ride!"
