For those who aren't familiar with Louisville ~ the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory are just slightly to the west of the Ky Centre for the Arts/Bomhard Theatre - the Big Bat is 120' tall.  And Saun made a joke about the Caufield's Novelty Co which has a very large vampire bat on the side of the building.  Not your typical downtown scenery!  Cool

It was my first GBS concert, and I had a blast!  The guys sounded as good, if not better, in person than on album.  I was hoping the crowd would have gotten a bit more "into it", though - I know I screamed my fool head off!  :)  I was in the front row on the far right-hand side - closest to Bob - and since the poor soul who was supposed to sit in front of me didn't show up, I stood on the floor through most of the show.  I tried taking some pics, but couldn't figure out how to get them to not turn out blurry, but oh well, better luck next time I guess.  :)  And I'm completely hooked now - I've gotta find another concert to get to soon!

I agree! I'm fiending for another concert but i feel that i should wait for the new album to get along the way and go to THAT first concert. I want to go to one in Newfoundland :D

Arggggh!  Busy life since then, but fun...but I must chime in.

The show was GREAT!  I will agree, the seating situation was odd.  Based on the conversation with everyone at my table, I was sort of under the impression that while everyone agreed they wanted to get vertical, everyone was still skittish about blocking others' views.  Had I not been so close to the stage, I probably would have been bummed about the whole thing, but my proximity to the boys sure did help!  Old Brown's Daughter...sigh.

It was so nice to chat with the other fans, since you other Southern fans can probably attest, NO ONE AROUND HERE'S EVER HEARD OF THEM!

Needless to say, I can't wait till the next show!

After the show, as we all headed out towards the lobby, a wonderful sing along of "General Taylor" was started and the entire lobby, full of Great Big Veterans (as well as some newbies like my Mum and my brothers grilfriend) raised their voices in song. It was a great treat and, like many have said, a GREAT way to end the night!

That is one of the coolest things I have ever seen posted!!

I remember after having seen my first show (at the Vic in Chicago in 2006) we were on the El on the way back to our hotel, and my friends and I could not get "Rant and Roar" out of our heads, so out of our mouths it came. GREAT fun!

    Thanks for sharing, Karra!

    Yes

Wow! Louisville was an amazing show!

Had a busy summer, but this would certainly be labeled as the "Best Night of the Whole Summer" kind of evening!  So good to see men with a real passion in their hearts!

Was thrilled to hear Alan's new song, Dream Out Loud. It carries such a beautiful melody on his guitar.

Dream Out Loud could be a song be put with a video to help raise funds for Daffodil Place.  You can picture a child tip toing down a hospital hall way when Alan sings "I tip toe down the hallway..."  Sounds like a song of courage & hope.

Next time you guys do a tour, you'd better not skip Ohio!

Saw the video clip of Dream Out Loud and it really is a sweet song. Love the idea for it being a Daffodil Place fundraiser ... do the powers that be read these posts? File that one, please!

Does anyone have video of that? I saw people taking some, but I've not been able to find any posted on the internet anywhere. It was a really amazing moment. Every time I try to describe it to someone, words fail.

In case anyone is interested, it was Louisville's own Jack Salt with friends Drunk & Sailor who started that up. Jack was singing lead. big smiles

It's a shame that we can't find that video! Those men were AMAZING! and just that big sense of community and togetherness was really fantastic. I truly admire those men and i'm glad there are people like that in our fine state :D Lets work hard and find those videos!

I was in the row right behind you!  I thought it was absolute sacrilege to sit during a GBS show, so I stood up and bounced around throughout most of the second half.  I noticed you had a great spot in front.  I briefly considered going down to join you, but we had an usher sitting right next to us and I didn't think he'd approve.  (And I wasn't sure you and your friend would approve, either!)

I wouldn't have minded the company at all - actually would have been nice to have someone dancing around with me - felt a bit out there on my own for awhile.  :)

I don't know about anyone else who was recording it, but I was one of the ones trying to.  Unfortunately it was as though the sound was too spread out.  All my camera picked up was the chatter nearest it, so you couldn't really tell what was going on.  I was so bummed!
