TinaMack:
That one wasn't as hard to find as I thought it would be. Stupidly though, I had the page up with the answer but went off exploring other avenues of information before actually reading it. *snort* There are certainly a couple of stumpers, though!

The who wrote the most songs is a tough one... because we know a few things from the podcasts:
- Alan brings everything to the table... quantity if not always *coughqualitycough* - Sean is marginalized in this collective... he writes a lot, but its often treated as fluff / filler - Bob brings one "killer" to every album, but in his own words he "writes a lot of crap songs" but he knows if their not good enough So... do we go by what's recorded or do we guestimate or do we go pick through the guys' trash to count the discards... im-bloody-possible!

Kes - I still have no clue, but I've thought of a new way to approach the search. I live to fight another day. ...and when I say fight I mean laugh. Horatia - What I loved about Dakota Sesssions last night were the interview clips. I was really moved by how the guys respect and truly appreciate each other, like close brothers. I'm probably 180 degrees on the suggestion that anyone's songwriting is marginalized. As for question #12, I'm assuming it's mathematical...just not sure if I'm meant to unearth every recorded song written or co-written by a band member for say a TV show, or another musician or band... It's amazing what I'm unearthing in this 'research'. Cool stuff I've never seen or read. I'm just reading an interview from around the time Something Beautiful was released, talking about the opening track, Shines Right Through Me. Alan says, " What's cool about that song being first is that it really offers to
people that the brightest light in their lives could be something
that's right next to them," says Doyle. "People who've heard the song
assume it's about a man and a woman or a couple, it's really about the
three of us and how during difficult times that the best solace that we
found was in each other. We looked to the guys who were standing on
stage with us to be lightened."
That shines through to me. Very cool.

this is what I am wondering....... Are the ones that get 100% of the questions correct, the *only* ones that will be entered into the contest "jar" where a name will be picked ? These are not easy questions, so that's why I ask. OH well, I'll do my best, as I know we all will.
I guess this is more a questions for the GBS moderators of the contest, and I'm just thinking aloud. Good luck to everyone who enters.

Frosty, I think they will be fair...it'll depend on what they get from people I suppose. Maybe no one will be 100%. In any case, I owe you at least 50 free answers and/or favours for all the GBS videos you post! You know how to contact me.

I should have been more clear those were words straight from the horse's mouth, not my opinion... Sean in one of the poscasts says "I am marginalized in this collective" about his songs he said "let's call them what they are, they're filler... they're the inconsequential ones... in and out, like sh*t through a goose." With a statement like that I'd never say something they guys haven't said themselves, I'm not that critical. At the end of that podcast, Sean (talking over Alan & Bob) pleaded for the listeners to "vote" for his songs... which I have done. In Atlantic City, at a quiet point in the show, Lyndsay, Ren & Myself all shouted "We vote for Sean!" They probably had no clue what we meant, but it did get a look & a chuckle.

frostythebeerman:Well, I guess I answered my own question, here's a direct Quote from the GBS website, - official rules: "We won't kid you - this contest is a toughie. To enter you must answer the following 21 questions correctly and email them to help@GreatBigSea.com: "
We realized how difficult these questions are, so later on in the newsletter it said that a winner will be selected at random from the correct, or most correct, entries received. If you don't think you can answer all of them, but know some of them - send in your answers! I mean it! So far, the only answer people got right was question 21.

Ok, time is running short. I was wondering if anyone was interested in a knowledge exchange. I know the answers to 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 13, 16, 17, 18, I have pretty good guesses for 11 & 20 as well as ideas to submit for 6, 15 & 19 (but I wouldn't offer those up in exchange since they are complete guesses). Haven't looked into 12 yet. I'm completely lost for 2, 7, 14 (and would be happy for a confirmation for my idea for 15) Anyone willing to exchange one feel free to PM me. I do hope the official answers will be posted because these trivia questions have been driving me crazy
