    Nick:
From Haven't Seen you in a Long time comes for me the creepiest line in any song they do... Can you feel me, when he's making love to you?
It smacks of envy, obsession and a stalking mentality that sets me on edge.

    ..... FLOwowowowoERS, FLOWOWOWOWERS FLOWOWOWOWOWOheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeERS!
Creeps me right the f*&k out! I am ready to shoot myself every time I hear it!

    Hahaha - you're hilarious Nick!

I think Alan's lament in "Belong" is dark and bleak.

While it does give a sense of patriotism to his beloved rock - it portrays a bleak hopelessness as well.

Another one of my dark favorites is "Time Brings" (off the first album I believe).

That and Widow I have to agree with Nick--Creeps me right out!

I actually didn't listen to this for a few days after the first time I heard it, I just thought it was too depressing for my normal soundtrack. (It went into the rotation with Widow, when you just need some dark music)  You nail it on the feeling-- I would have labeled it "sad."  ...Maybe I need to invest in a thesaurus...

    Nick,

You hit the nail on the head when you said Haven't Seen You in a Long Time creeped you out. It has always creeped me out. I always skip it when the album plays. And funny people mention Time Brings - I always thought it was a bleak song too, but some people here around me have the opinion it's a beautiful love song. what I guess they are listening to the tune and not the words.

I'd go with Heart of Stone as being alternately sad and beautiful. The verses are gorgeous but the chorus brings you right down. That said, I could listen to that song on repeat forever.

    Oh yea!

    "Tickle Cove Pond".

A good song to listen to.  Get stoned and a little drunk.  And be so damn lucky.  About the hard and the easy we take as they come...

     Like being human.

This was a great thread to come across.  I had never heard the song Time Brings.  I downloaded the album from i tunes, but somehow missed that song.  I immediatly bought the song.  It is, not surprisingly, a beautiful song.  I think it is one of the saddest songs I have ever heard.

I agree this was a great thread. Something Beautiful is the tune that does it to me. What ever the reason you loose a friend, this song says it all. A single soul is chosen to be the one put to the test. But there will be some consolation for a heart that never rests. Something Beautiful
