Life in Cape Breton is good. 1/2 half of the job is going swimmingly. Costuming is second nature to me, so that's feeling good. The other half, is a little shaky... I haven't worked in archaeology before, so I've got a lot of catching up to do. What I'm doing isn't what's horribly challenging, its the theory & the sense that the foundation is missing that is keeping me up at night. I'm afraid to look stupid in front of my supervisors and right now I'm just a little fish lost in a veeeeerrry big pond.
Life away from the fortress is going well. I've been walking a lot. There are plenty of good trails in the area, but the best walk of the day is the 2.5 to 4 km home (depending on which office I'm working from)... such beautiful vistas... its going to be hard to go home after the term is done.
This past weekend I walked from town out to the lighthouse and back (about 4.5hrs). For part of the hike I left the road and walked / climbed along the beach. It was a little challenging for someone of my fitness level (not so fit), but being out has felt really good. The past few terms I have been cooped up with draining projects that really worn on me, being in a place away from that kind of stress is a real blessing.
I've posted my pics from Louisbourg on flickr...more will be coming shortly. It takes a long time to get them uploaded because the public inet connection that I'm using right now is really weak and comes and goes frequently.

My mom has posted a few images of the finished Sister-fish. The photos are a little dark, but you'll get the gist of how its coming along. She's working on the background, but it will take a while because it isn't quite as rewarding as the figures have been.
