Once again I revel in the beauty of the mundane Today is a gorgeous day. I've washed all the kids clothes and hung them to dry on the line outside where they are bouncing merrily in the warm breeze. Happiness is a full line of laundry in the sunshine.

I miss having a clothes line. It's a hurricane out there tho! Make sure the kids' clothes don't end up 3 blocks away! (Speaking from experience...on really windy days, I had to go looking for some clothes and found them in neighbours' yards!)

Helen. She and I met up at the Buffalo Airport, and drove to Niagara Falls and hung out for several hours today ..It was great! I was so very nervous to meet her and she was so nice! Thanks Helen for a great day.

okay, maybe this isn't 'beautiful' but my daughter and son fight as normal siblings do. They're not allowed to hurt each other or call each other names. My daugher has figured out how to chase her big brother away though. She threatens him with boogers on the end of her finger and chases him around the house. It's too funny to stop!

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?
I had a Beautiful weekend in Toronto with lots of good friends! It was cold and wet and windy, and sunny and hot, and it was too short but so full of beautiful things! It began with Andi meeting me at the airport rental car counter and sharing her good company, geologic experitise, sage advice and friendship with me for an afternoon at Niagara Falls The it was onto the City, my beautiful room on the 19th floor of a 20 story hotel downtown, and wet, misty evening in the city with a friend. We were having so much fun, I don't think we noticed the rain! Sunday I vetnured out on my own to explore the city and the water front on foot, nearly freezing, and discoverd all kinds of beautiful things. Later, as i headed out to Jenny's for the Brian MacMillan concert the skies cleared and I found myself next to an empty beach by Lake Ontario. I had the wind in my face, the sun in the sky, the water around me, and the Song of Hiawatha in my head and my heart! It was beautiful! I arrived at Jenny's and felt right at home out in the country at her house. The concert was fun and the company was great. A beautiful evening of beautiful music. Sunday I managed to have coffee with Nicole and almost missed Cathie for lunch but by the mere chance of her open sunroof, Cathie and I got to at least say hello again! It was all beautiful!

Helen, I think they were Trumpeter Swans - they've been reintroduced to upstate NY recently. Gorgeous! My SB* today is Mac Morin. Incredible person, about whom it is not possible to say enough. Anne and I went to see Mac and Natalie MacMaster play, and we got to talk to Mac afterward, as always he was kind, gentle and generous with his time. Talking to himalways renews my faith in humanity. Andi- posting again under Anne's account.

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?
Something beautiful happened to me yesterday. I'm in an LDR. I live in NYC, he's in DC. He was supposed to come up this afternoon and stay for a few days. But yesterday about 4pm I get a picture message of a bouquet of flowers in front of the door of the building where I work... kinda like the phone commercial, "Wish you were here." Totally had me fooled. Unfortunately, I wasn't AT work, but it was romantic as all heck. We got in touch and had a lovely evening.

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?
I have 2 SB's - first of all, there's been lots of work to do in the office for the last two days after a month of daily fear for our jobs because there was nothing coming in. Might not last, but for now, there's work to do! Yippee... Second, I have a brand new sewing machine that I bought with my own saved up pennies that I'll be playing with over the weekend. Cheers to all, Kati

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?
I was a very surprised teacher today when Elijah, whose job it is to answer the phone, announced to me, grinning, that it was"Little Kids Rock on the phone." I thought for sure he was kidding me as he had this sh**-eating grin on his face. So I answer the phone and it IS Little Kids Rock on the phone, informing me that we have won a Fender Starcaster Drum Kit!!!!!!! My student Jimerr almost jumped out of his uniform when he heard that. He's my constant drummer. (His dad puts the constant drumming to good use - Jimerr plays drum in the drill team in his dad's neighborhood. They won first place in the city competition recently.) Now - I have to learn how to play the drums! LOL! I think I'm up for the challenge. Anne

Spending the whole day with my Mom is my Something Beautiful. She is really someone special, my inspiration. If I can be half the Mom she is, I'm doing really well. I love my Mom! Anne

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?
My oldest son Marcus and my hubby are Something Beautiful today. Marcus received a cryptic text message from his friend in China. The friend had lent his epirb(emergency position indicator radio beacon) to another friend who was traveling. These are the things that ships have for when they sink. Many people have their own epirbs these days. They are all registered with the Coast Guard/Air Force I believe, and when they go off, a search and rescue usually ensues. So C.'s epirb went off (but S had it in his possession) and it dialed the Coast Guard, who called the emergency contacts to see if it was a real emergency (there are a lot of hoaxes). C's Dad told the Coast Guard it wasn't an emergency, and his son was fine - that he just talked to him. They called off the search. The coordinates indicated it was on land. In the meantime, C calls Marcus because Marcus is a techie and tells Marcus that if the epirb went off then something had to be wrong with his friend. He didn't know who to contact or what to tell them. So Marcus calls Vic and asks him since he is in the Coast Guard Auxilliary. Vic tells him to call the local sheriff's office in the locale of the latitude/longitude position and give him all the info he has, mention that an Auxiliarist told him to call, etc. So Marcus calls the number in California and the police go out to the location to find that S had veered off the road and had an accident with the car and could not notify anyone as it was out of cellphone range. The police called Marcus back and told him what happened. So get this - a messenger dispatcher in Portland Oregon together with a boat Captain in Philadelphia took information received from China and successfully located an accident victim in California. THAT is Something Beautiful! Anne
