    Helen,

Those were exactly the kinds of Beautiful things this thread was meant for!!!

My beautiful thing was my cass yesterday. On their first day they tried their darnedest to impress their teacher. It worked. I am impressed.

A New Job! I got it!
    YesYahoooooo!BeerCongratulations!

I came home last night to not just the customary purrrr, but purrrr-crinkle. Smudge had decided to accessorize with a jaunty paper sidecar! He'd been monkeying around with the junkmail bag, and managed to get his entire front half through one of the handles. With classic feline I-meant-to-do-that aplomb, he followed me around as he normally does, kissing my toes and flopping over on his side for skritchies, still dressed for recycling and trailing bits of paper everywhere.

Oh Columbine how sweet!!!! He looks just like a cat I used to have, Oscar. He was my sister's at first but when she moved out west she left him with us. When she came home for Christmas he walked into the living room, looked at her and then turned around and sat there with his back to her!!! Cats are amazing!!!!

Another SB today: I found the prettiest pink corduroy to make my nieces some overalls!!!! As long as it's not a parent doing it it's not considered spoiling. Right???? LOL

My Something Beautiful is the song Ordinary Day. Once again, in the first week of school, I sang Ordinary Day for the kids. I had a half-dozen singing with me by the end. Also, I made it thru two days with no fights in school. That never happened last year. :)

And Bonnie is also Something Beautiful and she knows why.

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?

Grapes!  Lots of 'em.  They've Concord the arbor once again (I gave them such a pruning last year that they were too busy regrowing).  I need to find more people who like grapes!  I think I like the smell even better than the taste.  Concord grapes smell heavenly!  There's a trick to eating them - pop with tongue and suck flavor out, then swallow both outside and inside whole (so you don't bite a bitter seed or a sour skin).  Certainly no trickier than a pomegranate - and SOOOOO good.

Raining, too, for the first time in a couple weeks.  That's probably good too.  And plenty of work at the day job, and my knee and my toilet are nearly back to normal, and I am an awesome cook.

    Love, Columbine

SB* - Picturing Columbine's grape arbor, columbines, Smudge and her good cooking - and fondly remembering weekends spent there with her.

I got hit w/ a cold last night like a ton of bricks, and this morning my family let me sleep until nearly 10am - kept the house dead quiet- my husband brought me OJ, medicine and coffee in bed when i woke up.  His kndness today is  SB*.

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?

A bonus day with a little boy is always SB*.

But it's the why that is truly Beautiful.

Adam's had an issue with drypatch on his scalp for years now and we just can't make it gow away. I called his pediatrician yesterday because we couldn't get in to see her without using the 'urgent care walkin clinic'.  I didn't want to use that 'cause he's not sick. She gave us a refferal to a dermatolagist without having to see him. Here's where the Beautiful comes in

Her secretary said they were booking into the new year. I got a call within two hours for an appointment - TODAY.  My boss didn't even hesitate in giving me the whole day off on such short notice. Our appointment is this morning, so we have the whole afternoon to hang out and the Fall Fair starts today. We get to have fun!!!

What goes around comes around, you know.  You took care of someone, although you'll never know who, by not gumming up the urgent care works with a non-urgent situation.

Have a wonderful time at the fair!
