I have been waiting for this day for some time now, I only hope and pray it lasts. My Alex went to work this morning on his first real grown up job working in his field! It is truely something beautiful having him gainfully employed! Yes there is a light at the end of the tunnel!

Job Prospects. I have two interviews Monday. Wish me luck! I *really* need a new job as this one will end soon. The Priest is retiring, the church is closing and I have been looking for over two years. Today I got two calls. Pray I get one I can support myself on. :) Thanks

Audrey, That's wonderful news. Isn't it such a relief to see light at the end of the tunnel. I know exactly how you feel. Emma's recent graduation made me feel the same way. Was a long road to get there but she did it and Alex did too. Way to Go! Robin

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?
Mom and Stepdad just got me a laptop last week... and with the help of Ryen at work, I now have the means to use it!!! So exciting!!! I'm sitting at Arabica as I type this. On my laptop. I don't even like coffee, and think spending 4 bucks on a gourmet coffee is ridiculous, but this was the only place I could think of that's between work and Dad's house that I was sure could offer me a WiFi connection. LAPTOP!!! *squeal*

Very best wishes, Andi! Please let us know how it all turns out! My thoughts and prayers will be with you on Monday! My SB* this morning so early is my puppy, Molly (5 months old, wheaten terrier) - she just had a massive terrier spaz out, running around the house in circles for about 15 minutes, and has now crashed and fallen dead asleep in the front hall, snoring even. If I'd had a camera, I would have recorded it and posted it, it was hysterical! Not much, not amazing, but after the year we've had with dogs in this house, Molly can make any day something beautiful. My other SB* was yesterday - went to look at a new sewing machine and if my work keeps coming steadily from my "side job", sewing for people from my house, I should be able to afford it in only about a month and a half. It's a beauty and would make my work go so much faster and smoother! The lady at the store couldn't have been nicer and spent an hour and a half with me, going over every feature, just awesome, even though she knew I wasn't buying that day. She even let my 10 y.o. daughter take a try, very patient and earnest of using the machine for some embroidery stitches. Nothing was a problem and you wouldn't have there was another customer on the planet while she was talking to me. Fantastic customer service -- all in Fairfield County, Connecticut, which gets a totally bad rap with misconceptions, even from other parts of the state, of being snobbish and stand-offish because of the number of wealthy people who live there (one of the highest per capita incomes in the US). Of course, the shop is 25 miles west of where I live and I had to drive my kids 35 miles east in the afternoon to meet their grandparents to go camping, but you know what? It was well worth the miles on my car! Cheers, Kati

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?
My Something Beautiful is actually two people - Nancy and Howard who lent me their photos for my review when my camera battery died. The GBS extended fan family proves again how wonderful they can be.

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?
Wow, am I lucky! Two days in a row of having a Something Beautiful! My husband is my biggest Something Beautiful today. He wouldn't leave until a package came from UPS, even though I told him I'd be here for its arrival. When it did come, he signed for it and carried it over to me, saying, "Open it." I couldn't imagine what was inside this huge box which weighed not much. What was it? A brand spanking new acoustic-electric guitar from Zager Guitars! Our mechanic, who is an excellent guitar player, introduced me to his guitar a while ago. It was a Zager. The action on the thing was incredible, making it the easiest guitar I've ever played. Vic ordered one from Zager, who is getting out of the business. It sounds beautiful, and arrived at my house IN TUNE! Amazing. So Victor, you are truly Something Beautiful! And the second thing, which was the first, up until 15 minutes ago, is that I was accepted as a writer for Rambles.NET after I had sent him a review of Fortune's Favour. It's not up yet, but should be soon. And the third thing (Boy, was I lucky today!) is that the old car has been towed out of the driveway. We will miss Pistachio, but it was time (two years ago ). Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?
WOW!!!! Three SB's inone day! Hugs to you and Vic, and a loud chorus of the tune of your choice to your new guitar! Has it told you its name yet? Every day has been Beautiful here since it's stopped raining, with gorgeous sky art, refreshing breezes, everybody out having fun again, and such good sleeping weather (especially for Mixed Species Team Snoozing) that I've been having to imagine the taste of fresh coffee to get my feet onto the floor. But today, as I got off the subway, there was a HUGE crowd of morris dancers, some I knew and some I was planning to meet Friday, plankin' (brickin'?) 'er down in the park. I simply haven't the knees for morris dancing, but just seeing it always makes me happy, and I'm revved up for a big ceilidh Friday. (The Fearless Leader of my local mummers' troupe has promised a swordfight, or at least some sort of goofball tomfoolery.) I had a delightful discussion of impromptu millinery with one of the Wreckers over from Cornwall (he'd apparently temporarily swapped hats with a train conductor, and found enough random foofery to decorate it before she had to disembark, and she subsequently joined them in a dance on her layover). This really is what it's like where I live. I grump and grumble about it being expensive, and often wish I could take more days off, but all things considered, this really is the best possible arrangement for someone like me under the circumstances.
Love, Columbine

COlumbine, We are temporarily calling him "Sonny." His face is what they call a sunburst and I need to learn SOnny's Dream on him, so... I have missed seeing you this summer. When gas prices drop a bit more, maybe I'll be able to afford to roam farther from my home for roadtrips. In the meantime, please know that I miss your company. I thought of you the other day, when I came upon some Morris Dancers. Anne

Sonny's a great name! I miss you too - the fulcrum will be November. If everything works out then, the economy will start to improve, technology will get the green light, and we serfs will catch us a wave! It's still way out there, but with the sky this color, it's got to be coming... Love, Columbine

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?
Last night I went to a really fun ceilidh in honor of the Wreckers morris side, hosted by the local side Red Herring. It was tons of fun - we had a goofy mummers' play, a lot of fun songs and gleefully bungled dances, delicious food, and got to meet some great folks. The Wreckers were over from Cornwall, wrapping up an "East Coast Tour" of sorts, and everybody was in a great mood (despite many of them having been extensively attacked by vicious Delaware mosquitoes). This morning was a bit tricky - I'd been planning to take a few days out of town, but only because I'd made a miscalculation, and THEN I found out some clown of a would-be customer had bounced a check to me! But at least I hadn't sent her order yet, and the person who bought my GBS ticket (I can't go because of a schedule conflict) came over and handed me cash for it, so I could get it right into the bank along with all the coins I could scrounge, and then a REAL order came in, so as long as my boss finds some work for me to do this week, I'm going to make rent without borrowing. Sometimes, after too much suspense, that's Beautiful too. Love, Columbine (and Debt to Check-Bouncers!)

Re: Has 'Something Beautiful' happened to you today?
Hello to anyone who remembers me! Months ago, at the back end of last year, my elder son was involved in a terrible car accident and only just survived. So many friends here 'on the ground' came out of the woodwork and helped our family that the OKP went on hold and I've hardly looked in on this place since then. Just before the crash, my son Tom had bought himself a sailing boat. It has sat here in view of my kitchen window all winter and summer. Today, he organised a group of friends to help him and his brother to launch the boat and take her for a sail before berthing her in new moorings on the Isle of Sheppey in the Thames estuary. Long live the red-sailed 'Jarni' and all who sail in her, my Something Beautiful for today! Nina
