As soon as I recognized that those pictures were from the ship last year, they made me feel all squooooshy inside.... I can't believe I am going!  Those pictures just made me giddy over it! tounge

Me too Helen... that's why I had to put them up again.  The cruise was the first time I got to meet Alan in person... unfortunately I had had a wee bit much to drink at the time and just ended up babbling foolishness and something about him rocking my world... Ughh.. lol.

Can't wait for the cruise again next year... Brian and I got our cabin booked on Friday - now we only have to wait 8 months! lol

Re: King Alan: All About Alan Doyle

Well, if you look now, there is one.

Got some news that'll make y'all squeal. I saw Alan today! I was talking to him, telling him how great the new disc was and he said 'thanks luv'. I told him how anxious I had been in waiting for the cd, how everyone else could listen to it and I couldn't, but I told him it was worth the wait.

Then he said ' You want me to sign it for you if you have it there?' I happily said sure, and then pulled out a sharpie, saying 'I even brought sharpies with me' and he said 'good show' and then signed the cover for me.Big SmileBig Smile

He knows now that I love the disc and I'm going to be in Gander and we're going to get a picture over there. What luck eh? Wink

I really have found Fortune's Favour, or so it would seem.Big Smile

I'm not squealing.  It sounds like you purposely had the CD and the sharpies with you in the hopes of conveniently running into him while he was up at his cabin.

There sure is! It's a hoot. I've been skimming gbs.com daily this past couple of weeks for the latest news, so I've seen the new tails and FTR. Worth the wait, as always. Senrab totally cracked me up with her Photoshop comment too... Smile

Enjoy your new signed CD alan-rocks.

Re: King Alan: All About Alan Doyle

I couldn't help myself when I got the chance for a short chat with him on Tuesday. Pointing out that I had no Fortunes Favour for him to sign because you can't release anything on June 24th in Quebec and there is no mail delivery.

I had to settle for TH&TE signed.

I wasn't going to say where, but yeah, since Bonnie let the cat out of the bag so to speak, that's where it happened. Don't think I'm saying where tho..

It was exciting...even though I've chatted with him before. Now I definitely can't wait til Gander. A pic and a drink! Right on eh?

Re: King Alan: All About Alan Doyle

I think chatting with the boys and getting an autograph when they are out on GBS business is great fun and a highlight for many fans.  I feel completely different about going to a band members home or intruding on their private life to "oh just by chance run into them and get an autograph".   If you have ever known someone who has evre found celebrity, they do not find it flattering, are not impressed and really don't think about the said "fan" after they leave.  Celebrities (no matter how famous they are) have their own lives, their own friends, and their own ways of spending their life.  One of the things that makes a great perform is when they can make all 10,100,1000, or 100,000 people who are watching them feel like they are connected to the perform.  Just because we as fans feel that connection, does not mean the performer feels the same way.

I had a good friend, we were neighbors growing up, who found some celebrity in the world of music in the mid 90's.  He did his thing, signing autographs, being on radio shows, performing infront of stadium crowds.  But he was still the same painfully shy, kind of geeky, star wars ffanatic that I grew up with.  WHen we saw him perform it was surreal because he got up on stage with all this attitude and sex appeal the girls went mad, i giggled and imagined what the girls who teased him in junior high would think now.  Afterwards we went out for drinks and the people who approached nicely he was fine with.  But the people who pulled the lame ass, whoops didn't mean to run into you, oh by the way can you sign this/pose for  a picture thing, irritated the crap out of him.  Of course he was nice, of course he said yes, but they were interupting his time with his friends who he had not seen in a long time, afterward he did not have nice things to say aobut them.

I would reconsider this kind of drop in his private time behavior in the future.  Alan (and all the boys) will of course be nice to your face (they know better then to bite the hand that feeds them) but really if you admire them so much do you really want them bashing on you.

I personally am fine with admiring them for their music and leaving them the heck alone!!

Everyone's got their own opinions, and I guess you're entitled to yours seuss...

Still glad about it happening, and I would agree on the invasion of personal space if (a) I was on his property, and/or (b) if he hadn't talked to me first. As I was not on his property when it happened, and he talked to me first, I'm not worried about it.

Re: King Alan: All About Alan Doyle

My opinion matches Suess'....it doesn't matter if you were on his personal property or not.  Alan was not 'working' at that time, therefore it was his private time.

I feel that if they haven't just done a show then they are off-limits, and it doesn't matter who spoke to who first.  If I had a dollar for everytime I passed any of them on the streets here and done more than nod or say a quick hi in passing...I'd be broke.  They are busy doing whatever it is they are doing when they are not on stage entertaining us, and if I did have a conversation with them I wouldn't be posting it here.  But that's just me.  I don't feel the need to make people do the whole "OMB, you're so lucky!" because of who I may know or talk to.
