Ah, but why was Madison the best (I was at Akron too)? I've mentioned before that the best for me was Lowell, MA in August 2007. Outdoor concert. Rained in the morning but the sun came out shining bright by 1PM because Alan didn't want to play indoors (They had to decide by 1PM if the show was moving to the gym down the street). Treated to a soundcheck by the band (minus Sean) that included Shines Right Through and odds and ends. Great & friendly atmosphere (met my first OKPers there). Show was amazing on a stage so low to the ground that I had to pull my daughter off it when she sat very nearly at Sean's feet during the show. Beautiful night, great sound. Heard Walk on the Moon for the first time (my daughter was already able to sing along the next night in Freeport, ME). I videoed the sound check and put that version of Shines Right Through on my iPod. Whenever I hear it I'm transported back, I can feel the sun shining down and the warm breeze. It wasn't just the set list, the banter, or the band. It was the whole, complete package.

Chris, I was at that Madison show at the Barrymore as well, and completely agree with you - it remains on the top of my list for the perfect GBS gig, and Fran, it's for exactly the same reasons that Akron is your favorite. It was the whole package. Rainy day, met up with some OKPers for the first time (many remain friends to this day), sidewalk "kitchen" party (Madison "21"), band seemed comfortable, loose and seemingly had a great time, as did we! It is still the show that immediately comes to mind when asked about my favorite, and the memories continue to bring a smile to my face! Kim

The best (for me) was at Portage and Main in Winnipeg for the Bomber kickoff party. I can't remember if it was 1998 or 1999, but it was my first GBS show ever. I would've been either eight or nine years old, and I was there with my grandparents (who got me addicted to them) and my uncle. It was outdoors, free of charge and I was right at the stage, directly in front of Bob. There, I discovered Bobsession. He's been my favourite since. I remember looking up, and seeing him putting down one instrument and picking up another one. He was so reserved and quiet, but he had a big smile and he was just soooo good lookin'.
Ahh. Those were the days.
Of course, February 4, 2006 was amazing too. Because we met the guys. I have a photo of me, with my arm around Bob, and I didn't even have to photoshop it.
And we wake up in the breakdown of the things we never thought we could be...

It was Lowell that was my favourite. Other than seeing Sean in the cowboy hat, Akron was like all the rest to me. Great fun, but nothing standing out.

Sorryshouldve explained why! Madison was fun because the crowd was sooo into it. And it was my first..and you always remember your first ,right? I remember leaving the Barrymore thinking 'Now i know why people follow this band arond like the Grateful Dead'..it was THAT fun....i was hooked! Akron was cool...perfect summer nite under the moon, five dollars to get in...and before the gig there was a minor league baseball game going on....who was standing there watching the game? Alan. So i took in a couple innings with him and he asked what i was doing in Akron.. i said,' im here to see you!'...he didnt believe me!!! We talked baseball and hockey...it was cool....as for the gig...wow..even the band commented that they didnt think the nite was goin to be that special...i think they were surprised

GBSeaford:For me my favorite show was on Ships and Dip 3 January 2008. It was the Tuesday afternoon sail away show from the Lido Deck on the Carnival Victory cruising from Grand Cayman. Beautiful afternoon, good drinks, good friends and the boys at the top of their game.
Oooooooo... good one, John! Loved that the free cocktails coincided with that show, and Sakchai, "waiter extraordinaire", passed our group (you included) EVERY time he left the bar with a new tray of tasty cocktails. God love him! Good times, good times....

Good times for sure....I must think about that cruise almost every day
