    Rant & Roar CD Question

Can anyone tell me if this is a live or studio CD?  In particular, I am seeking the studio version of 'Goin Up'.

Thank all.  < 4 weeks to the Clayton show.  My mental bags are already packed and boarded.

Re: Rant & Roar CD Question

The tracks that appear on the Rant & Roar cd can be found on the Up and Play cds. Most versions on  Rant & Roar are identical to their doubles found on the other cds; although there are subtle changes on some.

So to answer your question, I do believe its a studio album. To play it safe, the original studio version of Goin Up is on the Up album...*grins* but you probably already knew that!

Re: Rant & Roar CD Question

Yes, it IS a studio album.  There is one track on Rant and Roar that was remixed, though - they took the fiddle out of End of the World, apparently because Sire Records thought it would appeal more to an American audience.  The album has gone out of print, so if you find the CD, it's now a collector's item.

Re: Rant & Roar CD Question

I 'm pretty sure that there are two songs on Rant & Roar that are mixed differently than the original releases. But I cant remember what they are!!! I know you can hear a difference in the Bob fiddle parts on at least one of them.

The song Going Up appeared first on the CD Up.

I also agree with others, a studio album without doubt.  Or more like parts of 2 studio albums.

(And unless you have to have two slightly remixed songs, a cd not worth it for the GBS fan who will wind up buying every other release anyway )

Re: Rant & Roar CD Question

    Yes, a studio album.

As a relative newbie, I can say that Rant and Roar was a good place to start. As I acquired more albums, it was a bit confusing to sort out why everything was a duplicate, especially once you add in the live albums!

My understanding is that Rant and Roar was created as their first US release (and why Play and Up were recently listed as "new" in the States).

Re: Rant & Roar CD Question

Thanks everyone for the responses.  I did place an order on ebay for it.

I hope to get it loaded in the ipod for the flight to Clayton, NY for the show.

Re: Rant & Roar CD Question

I got the cd yesterday.  Yes, some redundancy w/ other cds.  But I like having the different versions of Lukey and Goin up.
