It's my twelfth wedding anniversary today - I picked the first day of summer so that hubby wouldn't have any excuse to forget our anniversary 
He always remembers, though. He remembers the date of our first date (we were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend), and he also remembers the date of our first "solo" date (two weeks after the night we met).
Seems hard to believe it's been twelve years already, but it also seems like only yesterday. We actually met 23 years ago, and became instant friends. We were introduced by a mutual friend, he asked for my phone number and called me the next day. For the next two weeks we talked every night on the phone for at least two hours. We had so much in common it felt like we had known each other forever.
Poor guy is outside this afternoon tackling the jungle that is our backyard. We live in a townhouse, and our backyard is fairly small. Hopefully next summer we will renovate. We want to get rid of the grass and build a backyard patio, with the centre of the yard having patio stones laid down, and patio furniture. Then around the edges of the yard we plan to have raised planting beds for some flowers and a veggie garden. Those are the tentative plans, it all depends on how we want to change our awkward deck. You access the deck from the living room, walk across the width of the house to the steps on the other side leading down into the backyard. My oldest brother builds decks as a hobby, and has promised to bring us some photos of his work so we can choose a design. He will then help us rebuild it.
We were planning on doing the backyard this summer, but now it looks as if we have to redo our front entrance. We have a sloping driveway, and the retaining wall and part of the front steps up to the door are built with railway ties. The front porch consists of four large paving stones, which are starting to buckle. Looks like we have to do that first. If we can manage to do it before February, we can apply for the Home Renovation Tax Credit.
