    Edmonton Review... Read First...

Okay… Okay… I will try to put into words my road trip this time round… it was a fab road trip… indeed it was… it all started with my awesome house guest who arrived Saturday at my house… was that almost a week ago already… wow… okay on with it right?? We woke Sunday with excitement of course and decided that we would do a workout… cuz that is what I do now… getting old… must exercise… keep healthy or that is what I tell myself… we brought my 10 year old on my killer stairs workout and Janeill was amazed that we had ice on our river. To me it was not so pretty lol… a cruel reminder that our cold, buckle down, dead of winter is not far away.  Janeill thought it was so pretty as she would never have that in her neck of the woods… maybe it is beautiful… we finished up the workout with a wonderful lunch and then it was time to get our already beautiful selves even more beautiful… well less stinky anyway…

Excitement was building we were going to see GBS in a mere hours. After going to the Casino were Janeill lost her camera the Friday night to see if they had it… we were off to the venue… we may have took the scenic route in Edmonton… but we found it… with plenty enough time for a glass a wine or two, I was gonna have a pint but I was felling fancy smanchy… so I had a glass of red or make that two glasses of red… I saw OKP’ers that I have not seen since The Hard and The Easy tour… it was really great to see em… the GBS love is wonderful… I love it… after the glass of wine or two we found our way to front row Murray and then the real game begun…

I must say I really love the very beginning of this show when they run out on stage and as soon as the first note of Love Me Tonight comes on the back drop falls and you get the girls and the card back drop… I love it… like really really love it…

The crowd was on its feet right away in Edmonton… and never really sat down… I don’t know set lists I do know that we got all the ‘familiar’ songs as Sean mentioned… when Alan and him were bantering about how they were playing all the hits and Sean said well we never really had any hits… just ‘familiar’ songs… The songs that really stick out in my head are River Driver, and let me tell ya… Dream to Live is amazing live… really really amazing live… Murray plays the guitar in it and as my houseguest told me… as I love Murray’s voice… so much… he make me listen to his voice in places I don’t have ears… lol… so very true… there was much laughter and banter, the two set list is awesome and during intermission they played King of Spain… which is a Moxy Fruvos song… Murray’s old band… I loved it… was very excited about that.  I will remember more I am sure… the Edmonton encore song was hilarious… and long… very very long… It was sold out to the doors as Alan said… Bob sang solo… I don’t remember the song… but wow..  that is a boy who plays everything and sings… he dedicated it out to his Uncle who was in the audience… Sean talked about his beagles and how one of his beagles now lives in Edmonton and his name is Harold… Harold’s owner was in the audience as well… awww… The scolding wife also ‘caught him by the Harold and threw him naked on the floor’… I really don’t know what all you want to hear… just ask… they wore clothes… they wore shoes, they were clean??? They sang, fierce… they put on a spectacular show… if you get to see any shows on the FF tour… GO… if you have already seen shows on this tour.. you know exactly what I am talking about… 15 years together and it shows… they are something else… FIERCE is a good word… if you want to know something specific... just ask...

My houseguest and I went and got a donair her first ever… for a midnight supper… and then it was home time so I could do it all over again tomorrow in Calgary.  I had to ship my kids out the door on very little sleep and really that did no bother me… cuz I was going to Calgary… =) oh and Calgary was so so good…

Bob's solo was called Sullivan's John.  It kinda reminded me of Dylan in singer/songwriter mode.

Yes, the ice in your river is amazing!  Beautiful little bergie bits floating peacefully by.  The workout was awesome!  Them are some killer stairs!  I was surprised that I had more trouble going down (which we did twice) than up...keeping my equilibrium (and keeping up with you) was a challenge!

It was great to meet your family...such nice boys...and I truly appreciate your hospitality.  Thanks to Jaydin again for giving up his room...and to all three of them for letting me steal Mom and run away to Calgary with her!

The camera did turn up, although I must admit I didn't take a single picture, except of the Premier Suite I stayed in at the River Cree Resort.  I'm so bad about photos...I guess that's what happens when you live in the moment!

Donairs, icy rivers, front row stage Murray...it was a day of firsts!   But for me, the biggest first of all came the next night in Calgary...

    Cheers!

Life is not a journey to the grave to be arrived at in a beautiful and well preserved body, but rather to slide in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a ride!"
