local news story about ticketmaster w/ a GBS link

On Saturday our local CTV evening news did a story about a lady not able to get floor tickets for the GBS show here in Nov. and ticketmaster & tickets now. It was about the jacking up of prices for tickets from brokers.

This lady tried to buy floor tickets to GBS, but Ticketmaster didnt have any available, the website suggested she try Tickets Now.  Tickets Now had floor seats available ranging in price from $200 - $400. The lady's complaint is that Tickets Now is a ticketmaster company, and that it's unfair that they are selling tickets at such a escalated cost.

The reporter then spoke to a former ticket broker about the business, and such practices. He got out of the business because of the cut throat nature & unethical behavior.

They didnt say when she had 1st tried to buy tickets, & although she came off as a big GBS fan, it would seem to me that she hadn't tried when the 1st went on sale (as I think most big GBS fans would do), b/c I looked a couple days after they went on sale & there were still floor seats available. But i do agree that it's dodgy that ticketmaster would have a link to 1 of it's partner company's that happens to be a brocker & selling tickets for several times the original price.

That's just wrong no matter what the venue.  Some people can hardly afford events as prices truly are let alone what the scalpers charge. Too bad the scalpers can't be truly stopped.

Unfortunately the brokers(read scalpers) can get away with this for some reason. Yet if you try to sell a tic on TMs Ticketexchange you can not mark it up above face value of the ticket. Yet brokers on the same site can mark the price up??? Definitely something fishy.

I know someone who bought tics on said site and then ended up not being able to go to the show. She attempted to sell the tics on the same site for what she paid and was not able to list them at that price because it was above face value.
