Great Big Sea and Cirque Du Soleil. Nuff said. WOW! You guys deserve it! Having long years of hard work pay off, deserves Rock Star treatment.

Re: Alan's From The Road!
nice. I like the mental images that he inspires. a cabin with nothing to do but play with your child(ren) and dog and spend time with those you love. Sounds heavenly about now. Enjoy it Alan and treasure these days. They grow up all to quickly.

Re: Alan's From The Road!
Happy Belated Birthday, Alan! Daffodil House sounds wonderful - I live in an area that has several major medical centers(1 Vetern's Hospital, 1 HUGE teaching hospital, and a world-renowned cancer center) and feel strongly about our Ronald McDonald house, but sometimes they're overrun, unfortunately. I'm lucky that I don't have to travel for really great medical treatment - my heart goes out to people who do. Enjoy the cabin - sounds lovely and peaceful. Cheers! Kati

Unfortunately, I can't find a 'Sergeon General' beanie, but I was thinking about Alan's March 29th FTR and googled this: policetees.com/.../displaypol?c=Caps&q=CP84 Maybe someone else will have better luck finding the other one he was looking for.

Re: Alan's From The Road!
Awesome news about the songs and album! BUT, what I am particularly happy to hear is that they were at the Beachouse. I booked rooms there online, sight unseen, for August...Now, I can breathe a major sigh of relief..it sounds lovely! If it is good enough for Doyle's gang, it's got to be a good place, right? Now, if I can just get the weather to cooperate

Re: Alan's From The Road!
Nice going Nova! Sounds like you scored on the vacation accomodations! It is always such a pleasure to read Alan's FTR (in this case, From the ROCK). It sounds like the guys are keeping busy and productive on their break. I am curious to hear the changes to "Hold on For You Life" ... the only other new song I've heard played at shows that wasn't mentioned as "unchanged" after the Studio-microscope scrutiny. I am really looking forward to the show in Seattle now.... Thursday marks the Solstice, the first Day of Summer...Everything is gonna be alright!

Yippee! 2 new FTRs from Alan. I love the image of him lying in bed listening in to all the conversations around him.

Re: Alan's From The Road!
Definately sounds like fun on the bus. I would love to be able to eavesdrop on the bus for a week and see what they're like when they're locked up together. What do they talk about? I still don't quite understand the triple decker beds, how much room could there possibly be floor to roof?

Re: Alan's From The Road!
After being on a tour bus and seeing the beds, not very much room!!!! Here is a link to a picture of tour bus beds from someone else's site. http://www.richellebrown.com/Albums/Colorado%202003/Rock%20Stars/RockStars.html#
Everyone likes to have something to do, can you find the spelling errors in my post?

Re: Alan's From The Road!
Wednesday August 01 2007 Tour Diary - July 30, 2007 - AC Flight 540, Seattle-Toronto Really enjoyed the weekend on the road, I must say. It was a treat to get out and perform again after one of the longest concert droughts in GBS History. Banjo God and Folk Fusion King, Bela Fleck joined us on stage at the Calgary Folk Fest on Saturday night. He’s been a musical hero of mine for a long time. From my first listen to New Grass Revival over a decade ago right up to the present Flecktones collaborations, I’ve enjoyed how Bela Fleck has paved the road from folk to just about every other musical genre on the planet. Quite a thrill to have him pick his way through Charlie Horse.
Hey, does anyone have a clip of this?? A video of Great Big Sea with Bela Fleck on banjo doing Charlie Horse would be worth its weight in GOLD!!! Oh my gosh, what I wouldn't have done to have been at THAT show!! We just saw GBS in Seattle at the Zoo, but while in Seattle saw advertisements for Bela Fleck and the Flecktones within just a few days after...then Bela Fleck came to Alaska (can you believe that??! A decent act actually came to Alaska!!!) and we saw them here. Bela Fleck was <almost> as good as GBS at the zoo in Seattle!! (My husband would have a different opinion, but he just doesn't understand...) Please, if anyone has a clip like this, or knows someone who does, PLEASE post it here or on you tube or some other site! I'd LOVE to see this grand performance!!
 Jo

Re: Alan's From The Road!
bob might not be the most reliable source if he told Alan that the cape was the oldest settlement. what do we virginians have to do to get some credit?
