Re: Children with disabilities
Sitting here drinking my tea and posting when I know full well I should be doing other things! Still exhausted. Got little sleep due to my wandering mind, thinking about where to put things in the new place. I'm surprised Tee hasn't called to see if I'm up! I'll finish my tea and get moving. The next 90 mins till my help arrives will fly by I'm sure!

Re: Children with disabilities
Well, you should be right in the middle of moving right now-I hope everything is going well and you're finding places for all your things-the weeding out is always the hardest-esp. after such a long time. Tonight you should definitely be able to sleep -you'll be exhausted!! Thinking of you and saying prayers that all is going as planned!!

Re: Children with disabilities
I'm at the old place and looking at all the stuff that still has to be sorted thru and packed...ugh. The move was exhausting and at times very frustrating. Several things got broken and I was on the verge of crying or screaming or both! Chelsea and I worked hard yesterday and got the living room set up. I hurt myself very badly during all of this tho...my hip. I was in tears today, it hurt so bad. I have a dr's appt tomorrow...so it should be feeling better then! Okay, off to pack a little and go home. It's been very peaceful the last 2 days. Aside from the work, I've felt like I'm on vacation!

Re: Children with disabilities
Wow even being in pain must not hurt so bad in your new place Trace! Way to go this is the start of the best of your life! As a landlord I could tell you horror stories about tenants who know how to play the system and those who could care less about the property cause they can always move, so I can sympathise somewhat with the landlord and most likely would have had a very simular conversation with you. You might want to check your lease agreement to see if it states anything about paint and the return to the original colour the walls were when you moved in. I have firm rules about paint after painting the same appartment 3 times in 1 year due to bad tenant paint jobs. The lady that thought lavender was a good colour for a living room and orange for the adjacent kitchen, The crazy lady that painted around her furniture, an then there were the university students who only had a roller so didn't do corners or around the trim, but the real kicker was the folks who painted the linoleum floor! There is also some unwritten rule that I have never heard of that states when you move out you take all the light bulbs out of all the light fixtures, Who knew! Ah the life of a land lord!

"There is also some unwritten rule that I have never heard of that states when you move out you take all the light bulbs" And that everyone must put their own set of holes in the window trim to hang their curtains - because of course the curtain rods must go. And it's apparently funny to pack the toilet tank with toilet paper rolls.... We don't rent anymore. And the stories of illegal activities resulting in tearing down drywall happening to friends of ours have kept us from ever renting out again. Landlords are a pain, but I wouldn't want to be one either.

Re: Children with disabilities
My dad was a landlord too, and he had some doozies himself. I guess because I'm not one of those doozies, I forget and take offense. Believe me, the colour of the kitchen is 100 times better now than when he painted it. And I've done a far better paint job! He painted the living room a neutral beige colour, so the brownish colour in the kitchen now flows nicely into the living room. Things are coming together. I'm at the old place again still gathering stuff. I still don't have internet at the new place because I'm waiting on Adrian to get his s*** together. Tho I'm thinking he'd get it together a lot quicker if I switched everything over to the new place! Aside from posting here, I haven't missed having internet all that much. Neither has Chels. We're putting our Christmas tree up today. The cats aren't there yet...2 kittens and a Christmas tree...fun. We never take chances with the tree and the cats...we tie it to the wall. Okay, back to gathering and then back to the new place. I'll be back online when I'm here or have the internet hooked up.

Re: Children with disabilities
Hey everyone! Pretty dead in here! I will assume that means that everyone is doing great! I have been in the new place for 2 weeks now and things are coming together. I still have way too much to get from the other house tho. I'm so tired of moving. Chelsea has adjusted very well. She accepts the house as her own and doesn't miss the old one anymore. Adrian still hasn't moved in with me, tho Jim brings him over every night to eat at my house so that he doesn't have to buy groceries.(Nice, eh?) He also hasn't paid me any child support. I should have known better when he promised to pay me $100 a week. So my money is dwindling. I have $300 to last me the rest of the month...for bills and groceries. Fun. He hasn't visited Chelsea in the 2 weeks we've been in the new place except for saying hello to her and giving her a hug when he drops off and picks up Adrian. Typical. Anyway, I'm not wasting my limited computer time (none at my house yet, doing laundry at Tee's) talking about HIM. I had my 'girls only' Christmas party last night. It was the break I really needed. Having so much to laugh about was wonderful for my soul. My baby boys are with me at the new place and it truly feels like home with them there. I missed them so much. They were a little freaked out at first, but have adjusted beautifully. Cards like I received from Columbine have been wonderful for me too. What you wrote Col was lovely and the picture on the front was perfect. Okay, have to put another load in. Maybe I'll be back here if anyone posts while I'm still here, otherwise, I'll be back when my internet is up and running sometime this week!

Re: Children with disabilities
That's great news Trace, especially that Chelsea is doing so well. Is Adrian handling it any better? Regarding Jim & Chelsea, it could be he's doing it as revenge, in some warped way to make you look bad. It is also possible that you've succeeded in making it understood that Jim is not welcome in your home and he's uncomfortable spending time with her since she's under your roof. Have you asked him about it?

Re: Children with disabilities
About to leave Tee's, but I'll respond to Fran... Adrian is dealing with it better. He's at least accepted it even tho he still isn't liking it. As for Jim, up until a few days ago, he thought it was just fine to walk into my house. (That is, he'd knock and walk in.) He's not uncomfortable by any means. In fact, he thinks it's his right to be in my house because his children living there. He has 2 residences right now and he could take her to either one or even over to his parent's house or out for a donut and hot chocolate. But he never spent time with her when we were together and all in the same house...it's just more apparent now that we're not. I'm very angry with him at the moment. I told Adrian that I was coming to Tee's to do laundry and that I'd tape the key under the bench in the mudroom for when Jim brought him to my house. When they arrived, Adrian forgot where I was and that the key was taped under the bench. So Jim LEFT HIM THERE in the unheated mudroom to wait for me, wherever I was, with no way to communicate with anyone. He called Tee's to tell me, after Adrian had been alone in the cold for at least 20 mins. Tee went and let him into the house. Seriously, I want my son with me as soon as humanly possible, even if that means that I have to pack up his belongings myself! I am off to go home now and cook dinner. Hopefully the next time I'm here it will be from my own computer!

Re: Children with disabilities
Was kind of hoping there was a much more reasonable explanation to Jim's behaviour, but I guess not. I hope Adrian wasn't too upset over your "disappearance". Is it possible for you to slowly start getting Adrian used to it by eating late one cold night and mentioning he might as well just stay over since he's here anyway (or is it more Jim that's refusing to let him move over?)

Huh. Sounds like time to get the legal gears grinding. As I understand it, that particular aspect's even slower than most. Who's your best system-navigation advocate? Consider asking a doctor or nurse - they can probably point you in the right direction, or even Chelsea's counselor. Love, Columbine

Re: Children with disabilities
Can i interrupt this topic for some good news? Chris came down to visit this weekend. He seems to have a new outlook - he is in a good space right now. He's staying out of trouble (for the time being) and he seems happy for a change. It was nice to see him like that again. It was just nice to see him. We had fun. I hope this new attitude lasts for him.

Re: Children with disabilities
Helen that is fantastic news you must be bursting will glee! It is so great when they are all on there game and doing well isn't it. 1 outa 2 still employed. Alex job ended with the snow, however he has been very diligent at looking for work so I am hopeful. The process continues for Chris' entry into the armed forces this week we have the physical, I am still not sure whether I like the idea or not, keeping my thoughts to myself here though.

Re: Children with disabilities
my good news is just a little thing but GBSteve went to the parent interview for our boy and the teacher, instead of telling us he (at five now) has ADD, said that he's a five-year-old boy (iow - normal!!!) I still don't want to think that having a smaller class this year has changed her diagnosis, but I'm glad she's changed her mind.
