HOW TO: Posting pictures and images

When you open the Reply window (either with Reply or Quick Reply... both have it), click on the little tree icon:

The Image Wizard window will appear:

Paste the address of your image in the Image URL box.

    Click Insert.

If it was successful, the image will appear in the edit window just like it will when you post.

    IMPORTANT NOTES:

    • The image or picture must be hosted online at a site that allows hotlinking.  Some popular ones that offer free accounts are http://www.photobucket.com and http://www.flickr.com.
    • If it's not yours, be sure to credit whom it belongs to.  If the owner has requested that their pics not be posted anywhere, DO NOT POST IT.  If the owner requests a pic be taken down or properly accredited, DO IT.
    • DO NOT post a picture from the address on someone else's website.  That is stealing their bandwidth thus costing them money and is considered very rude.

    Kes!

That has to be a most comprehensive set of instructions! Good going!

It's what I do these days. Wink I write online manuals.

(Although my team would cringe to see this... it isn't really written or formatted properly but who wants to WORK on their downtime?  I thought this would be sufficient unto it's need.)

Great work, Kes...see THAT is why you got that promotion today!

Just to add a quick note:

If you use Photobucket (and other sites may do this too, I don't know) you can simply copy the IMG code and paste it directly to your reply.  It eliminates a few clicks, but appears the same way in your post.

Re: HOW TO: Posting pictures and images

I don't have the tree icon when I open up the "edit" window. And when I go to "options" and try to upload an attachment, it says I don't have permission to do so and I should contact a system administrator. Please help! Thanks!

Nancy, changing your text editor will put the tree icon back in the toolbar for you. You do not have the option to add attachments, but if you want to add a photo to your post, just upload it to a free online photo album, like Photobucket, and with the tree icon, add the link to your post.
