    Re: Time Zones?

Okay, I feel like an idiot, because time zones confuse me (!), but GBS.com's office is in Toronto, so that would make it Eastern time zone (or Greenwich mean time). I believe you are Mountain time zone. Anyone...please correct me if I'm stupid.Angel

    Re: Time Zones?

Greenwich mean time is not Eastern time, it is something like 5 hours after Eastern time, depending on the time of year. You can set what time zone you want if you go to your profile.

    Re: Time Zones?

    Really?!?

Yes Britany you are in Mountain time... so am I... =D all I know is in Canada... just about or every two province(s) is an hour ahead of the other... and Sask never changes their time... so half the year we are in the same time zone and like now.. they are an hour ahead of Alberta... and the maritimes are lumped together and then NFLD is half hour diffrence from the other maritime provinces... or something like that.. LOL.. my hubby always asks me about time zones... he does not get them either...

    Sooo...

it is 11:22am in BC, 12:22 in Alberta, 1:22 in Sask and MB??, 2:22 in the East, 3:22 in the Maritimes and almost 4:00 in NFLD... right???

I stand corrected! That is weird considering it's a website for a NFLD band.

Hope you're doing well, Jenny. sorry for confusing Rock Harbour and Rocky Harbour. I was not aware of the existence of the other.

    Re: Time Zones?

I find it strange also that there isn't a time zone for Newfoundland. When I moved here I updated my profile and was surprised that there wasn't an option for NST. To the admins > Is it possible to add that time zone? I'm sure that I'm not the only person living in Newfoundland that would appreciate being able to set their board time correctly...

So then....what time zone is newfoundland in...? or is it in somesort of twilight zone where they simply guess the time? lol

    Re: Time Zones?

Newfoundland has it's own time zone...NST...Newfoundland Standard Time.  If you are on the west coast of Canada you'd be in Pacific Standard Time, which is 4.5 hours before NST.  So if it's 12 noon in Vancouver BC it would be 4:30pm in St. John's NL.

You haven't been to Gros Morne?  Rocky Harbour is located at the entrance to Bonne Bay, if you haven't been there I highly recommend it and if you do go in the summer let me know, my cousin Pam has a house right on the water, she's only there during the summer but would love the company.

    Re: Time Zones?

    Jenny,

I have not been anywhere on the west coast except for Stephenville and Cornerbrook and obviously Port aux Basques. That is on our agenda this summer I think. I'd love to discuss visiting your cousin later one nearer the summer. Maybe you could warn her? LOL!

You're gonna love that area, I'm trying to get back there myself. My cousin is a teacher currently working in Ontario, you'll get along just fine. I'll get her to contact you.

    Re: Time Zones?

NST and a few other missing time zones will be added to the list early next year when we do some behind-the-scenes work. Sorry about that!

    Re: Time Zones?

Thank you very much, Nicopop!  I didn't really realize that the NST time zone was missing until I moved from BC to NL...and then I figured maybe I had lost my mind somewhere in Ontario....  No, wait.  That was only my luggage.
