    Idea [I] Fun and Games

Perhaps just outside the kitchen we ought to have a forum for games (like caption contests, word games, acrostics, and the like).  It could help people get to know one another better outside the realm of GBS (tiny as that realm may be) and double as the ultimate goof-off zone.

    Re: Fun and Games

Well, then - let's play a game!  How about riddles?  I'll say one and you guess it, and then you say one and I'll guess it.  Let's see...

I lived and died in ancient time
A burning stone, a written line
But pressed and squeezed the eight draw near
And now my name is crystal clear.

    Try that one!

    Re: Fun and Games

I think I know the answer, but I don't want to guess cause I don't have another one and I don't want to be a thread killer.

That's still better than me, Sharn.  I have no idea what the answer is, and the only riddles I know are from The Hobbit.  But I do agree that this place needs a fun and games thread!

Just make one up!  Look out the window, in the fridge, around your room, and make up a rhyme about something.

    Re: Fun and Games

Not the Book of Revelation, but I probably misled you by bungling my own riddle!  It's not eight - the SIX draw near; I screwed up the number!

Anyway, I think I know yours, but since I loused my own up I want to give someone else a chance...

    Double post!

    Columbine-a Diamond?

    Tina-a Match?

Here's mine-and yes, I stole it from an internet site-A woman has 7 children.  1/2 of them are boys.  How is this possible?

    Re: Fun and Games

Yes. Match is the answer to mine.

That depends ... is she including her husband in the equation?! Angel

Is the other half boys too? In that case, they are all boys. I'm going to find a mensa puzzle or something. Just a sec...

    Okay another riddle.

    Leap to Safety

A man sleeping on the top floor of a three-storey house awakes to find smoke coming under his bedroom door. He gathers as many of his treasured possessions as he can possibly hold and leaps out of the bedroom window. Even though his arms are full, he doesn't drop or break anything and he does not injure himself. Why?

    Clues:

    1. Some of the items were fragile and would've broken if they'd hit the ground.

    2. He did not jump on to a ledge on the house.

    3. No ladders, ropes, or safety nets were used.

    4. He did not jump into water or soft snow.

    Re: Fun and Games

    Here's one idea I had...

One person gives a topic (ex- 'Movies with numbers in the title) and the next person lists five things that fit into that topic (ex-  Twelve Monkeys, The Sixth Sense, 28 Days, Nine Months, Thirteen Ghosts), then gives another topic (ex- top vacation spots or martial arts stars)

...sort of botches the riddle thing, but if we can get a new forum that won't matter - there'll be room for all!Smile

Tina - sorry, we must have been typing at the same time and you got yours posted before I did!embarrased

I'm the one who always tries to find loopholes... was one of his cherished possessions a parachute or did he live in one of those houses built into the side of a hill?

I hope we do get a new forum for this, because there are so many fun ideas we could do!  I like yours, Sarah!  I'll start.
