Just got home - show ended about 2 hours ago and I'm still singing - my throat is hoarse, my knees are screaming in pain but my heart is soaring! This was my first time attending a Great Big Sea show and although it was a "shortened" set, it was still well worth the wait! The "boys" look wonderful in person - and they looked like they were having fun too, which is important. So many wonderful songs - I wish I'd written a set list but it doesn't matter - they played plenty of old songs and plenty of new ones from Fortune's Favour, including the one I really wanted to hear "Here and Now" (Plus "England", "Dream to Live" and "Walk On The Moon"). I was a teeny bit disappointed that "The Old Black Rum" wasn't in the set but not much - there were plenty of grand songs that I was delighted to hear. A great surprise was the inclusion of "Helmethead" - bravo Bob! Bravo boys - it was a joy that I will remember for the rest of my life! I've waited 10 years to see GBS, ever since I first heard them on the radio in New Brunswick and became hooked! I try to spread the word about Great Big Sea whenever I can - how can you not love 'em??? Thanks for a fantastic show, Alan, Bob, Sean, Murray and Kris - I look forward to your return visit to the area. Keep the peace - oh, and by the way, I LOVE the bus!!!! Annie

Just poking in to wave and say hi... Just got home - great set, a little insane because we ended up getting there about 10 minutes before GBS went on thanks to a snafu at the rental car place (you'd think when you've booked a car they'd actually have a car for you, but apparently this is not always the case). Sean enjoyed singing The Night Pat Murphy Died - since *the* Paddy Murphy was in town as well... I am on GBS/GS overload right now, is it February yet?

I am working on the set list now. It's scribbled on the back of the checkbook. Some day, I will bring a notebook. I need to figure out names of songs from the new album.
I listened to the first three or four songs extreme Stage Murray, right in front of the speakers, then went back to sit with my wife at about the mid-point of the tent. Strange to be at a venue where Gaelic Storm draws a bigger crowd than the Boys. My wife was ecstatic that the actually had Murray's microphone turned up for his verse in "Scolding Wife." Now, I count 22 songs in a 90-minute set. That's great. I thought it was a terrific concert. Obvious missing songs: "Straight to Hell," which is off the new CD and has been a regular item on this tour, "Mari-mac" and "Old Brown's Daughter." I assume they felt it wasn't the right venue for Old Brown, which they had closed with the previous two nights, according to the reviews. Amusing note on the banter: They talked about "Law & Order" and spooning on the couch. They then mentioned "Beauty and the Beast" and the song "Be Our Guest." The connection. Jerry Orbach not only played Briscoe on L&O, but he provided the voice for Lumiere (he had done Broadway, too) and sang "Be Our Guest" in the movie.

Amazing show. I actually ran into the boys outside their tour bus about 4 hours before their set; Alan, Bob and Murray were throwing a football around. It was really cool, as that was the first time I'd ever seen them in person. Got a little meet n' greet off the books, which was nice. Really amazing set. Many more old songs than I thought they'd play, and the finale with Excursion and Fortune was such an energizer. The inclusion of "Ferryland Sealer" was unexpected and very much appreciated. I got the impression, for some reason, that Sean was not feeling well, but he was still on top of his game and he's really a much more accomplished singer than I'd thought (even after listening to them for this long). The recycled "Law and Order" joke never gets old, really.

I will echo the sentiments of a FABULOUS show. The guys were tearing through the setlist at an almost frenzied pace, trying to perform as many tunes as possible in the alotted time. High energy all the way around from both the band and the crowd! Lemme help you out on the setlist, Liam. Here goes: Donkey Riding Captain Kidd Love Me Tonite Paddy Murphy - Very funny intro as Paddy Murphy was "in the house" When I'm Up Jack Hinks England Charlie Horse I'm a Rover - kinda missed this one a bit - glad to see it back in the mix When I Am King General Taylor - AWESOME audience participation Scolding Wife Here and Now Helmethead Walk on the Moon Consequence Free Ferryland Sealer Ordinary Day Live to Dream - absolutely LOVE this song!! Excursion Around the Bay Fortune Set One of my favorite parts of the evening was watching the faces of the Security Guards and the muttering of "Oh, S$#@!!" during "Ordinary Day" - I'm sure that there was MUCH verticle movement in unison going on. The other fun part was to actually entice a fist pump from them during "Excurison"! It was truly a great evening, capping off a STELLAR weekend. Great to see so many familiar faces as well. Will have pics up a little later.
live simply - love generously - care deeply - speak kindly - leave the rest to God

He actually appeared to be doing much better Saturday night than Friday. He was a little hoarse in some places Friday, though you really would not have noticed it. He appeared to be sucking on something for part of the show. Didn't even get rid of it during England, I was afraid he was going to choke himself. He mentioned on Twitter a few nights before that he was fighting the flu. As I said, it was really hard to notice, he went on like a trooper, I was surprised he did General Taylor and Gallow's Pole anyway, and sounded great. I will have a video of Ferryland Sealer to put up later, once my husband relenquishes the Mac.

Venue wasn't great for sound but here's Ferryland Sealer. Begining is missing because my card was full and I had to go back and delete Charley Horse to make room. http://www.kaesye.com/fran/Sealer.mov I hadn't realized that I recorded it but here's Rover with the innocent cutlery conversation: http://www.kaesye.com/fran/InnocentCutlery.mov

The concert was fantastic. We drove up from Hamilton. Spent the night and then hit an outlet mall on the way home for some great deals. The one thing I found amusing was as I looked around EVERYONE had a beer in their hand at all times and if they didn't, it was because they were eating. When my man was in line for food, a young guy behind him say "hey are you Irish". He replied no, I am Scottish. The kid told him he shouldn't be there. Bill asked him what was he, he said Polish and started laughing saying he would probably get hung for that. He then gave him a beer ticket. Probably felt sorry for Bill cause he didn't have a beer in his hand while in line. I guess everyone is Irish for the day.

I think it helped that relative to most places, the drinks were quite reasonably priced -- Guinness for $5! Mojito mixed drinks for $4 -- was a happy girl indeed! Great show -- so happy to hear Ferryland Sealer and I'm a Rover again...love how they mixed it up completely from the night before. Slainte!
