Were you watching CNN a few weeks back when 2 bankers who had just lost their jobs were gratuitously making out behind the CNN financial commentator?... News guy had no clue until the end of the segment -- too funny! Adored that two men who were lugging their boxes out of their office for the last time could have such a sense of humour.

Since I've been up to my eyeballs in this crap for the last week or so, it takes a lot to make me smile about this issue..so thank you, dear beagle! Proud of many for their convinctions; Another plan is underway but ya know, it's the details.

And they have the gall to blame it on people for taking out mortgages that they "couldn't afford." You know why most of them ended up defaulting? MEDICAL BILLS. Some catastrophic injury or illness, and they're out on their tails. Be glad you're a Canadian beagle.

Hey, I got a neat idea, what if the US gov't poured that money into bailing out the people who stand to lose their homes? They keep thier homes, their jobs, have money to put into the ecomony, and the green grass grows all around all around and the green grass grows all around.

Sharn, I'm with you...but with one exception.
Think of it: seven HUNDRED Billion dollars! (Is that really the figure?) That is a huge amount of money. The US population is just over 300 Million. If the government took that money and distributed it evenly between ALL US citizens, adults and children alike, everyone of us would be Multi-millionaires! If they put it into a National Health Care System, we'd all have all the coverage we'd need to be healthy, productive citizens. They could give us each a cool Million and take the remaining BILLIONS and fix everything!
Now immagine that they STOP dumping billions a month into the WAR, and they distribute THAT money to the PEOPLE, the schools, the infrastructure, the health care system, the Veterans who are homeless - well on and on it goes - and this would be a completely different kind of country.

Um.. I'm no math expert and I'm blonde, but you might want to check your figures there, Helen.

If $700B was divvied up evenly, that's about $2,333 for each American. Hardly making us multi-millionaires.

But you raise very valid arguments, none-the-less.

I have nothing to add but this: Tosh, if you ever run for president, you've got my vote. This whole thing pisses me off so much, I can hardly even talk about it. I'll be honest - I don't know very much about finance, but I'm pretty sure there's something's wrong with taking money from the poor (including future generations) to give to the rich.

So many, many Americans feel the same way: don't reward the criminals, help out the victims. Yet the bill passes. And we Americans got to see how the sausage is made. Yuck.
