On January 14, at the Geo Centre in St. John's, NL, Great Big Sea will perform at Rock OP for Haiti, an intimate concert in support of Broken Earth, a team of physicians, nurses and physiotherapists from Newfoundland and Labrador, who have joined together to support relief efforts in Haiti.
Medical professionals from Newfoundland stepped in to help provide their expertise and help in the aftermath of one of the most devastating natural disasters in recent history and created Broken Earth, the first collective of Eastern Health employees involved in an international relief effort. The team has become a tremendous force in Haiti, capable of caring for more than 500 patients per week.
All funds raised from Rock OP for Haiti go directly to the Broken Earth relief effort by funding two team visits to Haiti in 2012. Please to view this message from Great Big Sea about the project and then come be a part of this event, or donate to the cause by visiting BrokenEarth.ca.

Tune into CBC this Thursday (September 15) at 8 pm EST to see the first installment of Life Is A Highway, a new two-part documentary about Canadian pop music during the 90s. In addition to interviews with Alan and Sean, a vintage performance of "Consequence Free" is featured. Narrated by Jian Ghomeshi, Life Is A Highway also includes interviews and performances from Blue Rodeo, kd lang, The Tragically Hip, and more.

Global Television and Entertainment Tonight Canada have announced an exciting New Year's Eve event which will feature live performances from some of Canada's top acts, including Great Big Sea.
New Year's Eve at Niagara Falls, hosted by ET Canada's Cheryl Hickey and Rick Campanelli, will be a nationally televised event for everyone in Canada to enjoy on December 31. Also performing that night will be international music sensation Kardinal Offishall and the JUNO award-winning, Barenaked Ladies.

The Ottawa Public Library (OPL) welcomes Bob Hallett to the Main Library on Thursday, December 2 at 1 pm. Bob will be reading from his recent book, Writing Out the Notes. This book began as a series of essays Bob wrote to explain his love of music, but it turned into a humorous biography and a kind of extended solo on music and how his love for it transformed his life.
After the reading, join Ken Rockburn, award-winning journalist and host of TV's Rockburn Presents, in conversation with Bob.

The album debuted at #2 on the Canadian top 100 Billboard charts and at #4 on the US Billboard heatseekers chart (#159 overall). It’s the biggest GBS debut since Sea of No Cares debuted at #1 in 2002!

The band has provided three instrumental versions of songs from Safe Upon The Shore and they want you to give us your best karaoke version of "Nothing But A Song", "Good People" or "Hit the Ground and Run". Download the tracks our special contest page, learn those lyrics, and then videotape your best performance!
To enter the "Nothing But A Song" Karaoke Contest, you must upload your karaoke video as a "video response" to the official contest video on YouTube. This is your time to give it all you've got, so be creative!

The boys' latest studio album, Safe Upon The Shore, hits shelves throughout North America today. It is also available worldwide from iTunes or through the GreatBigSea.com Store, so if you haven't already preordered the album, go get yourself a copy! Happy Canada Day! To celebrate the 143rd birthday of this great land, we've got a new Great Big Sea video for you to enjoy. "Nothing But A Song" is the first single off the new GBS recording, 'Safe Upon The Shore', and the video features the band frolicking in the sun around Grand Cayman. The band performance part of the video was shot at a pub on the beach.

Both East and West coast GBS fans are going to be happy with the addition of two new tour dates this summer, in Nanaimo, BC, and Charlottetown, PE! The boys will perform at Nanaimo's Port Theatre on June 22, and at the Charlottetown SummerFest at Confederation Landing Park on July 3.
The GreatBigSea.com ticket presale for the Nanaimo show starts May 25 at 9 am PDT, while the Charlottetown presale is on now. All SummerFest presale ticket holders will receive early entry to this general admission show.

Sean has announced three solo shows in support of his album, Lullabies for Bloodshot Eyes. The first will take place at Washington's IOTA Club & Cafe at 4 pm, May 2. Tickets will be available at the door. On June 9, Sean will perform two sets at The Carleton, 9 pm. Tickets are $25 and are available to purchase by phone at 902-422-6335 or at the venue (1685 Argyle Street). Sean will also take part in a songwriters circle on June 10 at Casino Nova Scotia. Tickets are $36.50 including HST and are available from Ticket Atlantic. In other, very exciting Great Big Sea news, Alan has posted a new FTR!
