Sorry you are not happy at this news...Don't go to the show then, but your vulgar post is not welcome here. Nice representation of the Olympic Host Country (and Province?), dude.

I am thrilled for the band that they have such an opportunity!  What an honour.  I only wish I could be there.

Who let the 12-year-old who just learned how to spell profanities in here? Guess he doesn't have a mother to teach him that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all....

That's just gross and it should be scrubbed away, kind of like washing out the child's mouth with soap. Enough said.

Meanwhile, back to the news - hooray for the band! I hope this foretells other good things to come in 2010 like a nice shiny Juno, perhaps? A smash new release? Wish we could make it. I hope we can catch it on CBC or online.

What will the b'ys choose to play? Can't wait!
Cheers,

I've just been sitting here, watching the Great Big DVD, missing GBS,
and came to check out what's happening -- my first response? OMG!! That is so exciting!! You guys are awesome and I am psyched! I am definitely going to try to go. My knees just got better from the last concert and I am hyperventilating already.

Wow! That's really great news. I'm so happy for you.

Re the second comment on here. I don't know how or why those kind of comments are allowed to be posted. There are younger people visiting this site & it's very inconsiderate to post things like that.

Congratulations.  I knew this would happen.  Just didn't know what part.  Who could ask for anything more?  Another feather in your hats. You guys are such  great ambassadors not just for Canada but especially for Newfoundland. Now, if only I could be there.  Will definitely be watching it on TV.  Who knows, probably after this highlight, you will return to Newfoundland for some shows.  Good luck and Merry Christmas.

Nice treat, and there's a couple of (almost) East Coast pubs not too far from this venue.  Snagged my tickets this morning!

Like so many other fans, I wish I could be there.  But congratulations!!!  This is definitely a huge honour.  And allowing you guys to close the concert (saving the best for last) makes it an even bigger honour.

Do you b'ys get to play a full-length concert or just a few tunes?

I hope this show will be televised.  If it is, I'll definitely be watching and singing along!

Guys, this is great news! The best (aka: all of you) was definitely saved for last! I won't be able to be there sadly, but I know that you will represent the province well! Have a fun time!

I sadly don't have MuchMusic. Does anyone know if this can be watched online?

Just so everybody knows the concert is SOLD OUT. I talked with the ticketing people and there were only 500 tickets to GBS given to the public. And it only took 35min to sell out.

I'm very happy to say that we got tickets - it will be an Olympic highlight for us. I think that the claim that only 500 tickets were made available soumds like an Olympic myth - BC PLace holds 55,000 people - even if the capacity were significantly reduced, there had to be thousands of seats available.
In our case my wife recieved an email notification from Vancouver 2010 at 9:55 AM Pacific time announcing the acts that would be performing at the victory ceremonies - tickest were available immediatly - I bought our tickets 5 hours later at 2:55pm PM Pacific Time, so I don't think tickets sold out in 35 minutes.

Should be a great party! I imagine you'll find us hanging around the Atlantic Canada House on Granville Island right around the 26th!

It's a thanks for unknowingly getting me into music more than I possibly could have imagined.  I'm working on an album now, Alan.  Thanks for your words of encouragement on Ships and Dip III.  We briefely talked the morning after this picture was taken, and again the following year as you took a morning walk with your love.

You re-signed my guitar in black ink and told me "keep pluggin' at it"

The name of my alubm will be "Rooting for the Underdogs"

Your words, how ever insignificant you may thought them to be, meant much.

Thanks again, and god bless.

What an incredible honor! They certainly do a wonderful job as ambassadors of Newfoundland culture. I know that they would be my reason for wanting to visit. :~) I can't imagine anyone better to represent the province.

I hope that they actually air the whole thing in the states. With the tendency towards unbalanced coverage here, I had better start checking into online viewing options. :~)

Cheers!
