To each their own.  I know which fans are gonna love this, but it makes me queasy. I believe some things should be private, like talking about a  little boy's pooping to a bunch of half-baked fangirlz. It feels like watching a woman walk around with her top off in a room full of peeping toms. Even if she chooses to do it, that don't make it healthy IMO. I think I'm in the wrong place. If GBS wants to do the boy band squeefest gossipy shit then maybe I need to find a grown up band.

Bill you'd probably be surprised to know that many of those fan girls are 25 to 40something parents with wee-ones of their own. Strange venue for conversation maybe, but strange topic... not really.

Hey Bill,  I have to agree with Horatia and I take offense to the half-baked fangirlz comment.  I happen to be a mother of 3 in her late 30's who do not follow GBS for the "boy band" image, but rather to remind me that I am more than a mother to 3 little ones, and there is more to me than school, homework, music lessons, diapers and potty training.  To find out that the boys of GBS have normal lives with vans and kids and potty training issues makes them more of equals to me than some rock band.  Maybe there will be some "half-baked fangirlz" who log into his "twitter" , but I am sure they will be lost after a few more potty training and coloring Thomas the tank stories, and who will be left but the 30 & 40 year old somethings who just want validation that what is happening in their lives is no different than anyone else's - including those do a good job of entertaining and keeping us feeling young.

LOL! Since when does age have anything to do with being a fangirl or fanboy?!  If it was really a conversation it wouldn't feel so creepy. But it's not conversation because conversations go both ways. You guys are "followers" who don't say anything back Sean if he doesn't "follow " you. That's not a coversation. It's one person showing his privates with a bunch of strangers peering at him while he does. Exhibitionism and voyuerism, kind of like performing but about intimate personal stuff instead. It's Sean's choice to do it, it's your choice to like it or get validated by it (I don't get why Sean having a kid validates you either or why you need that) if you want and say so, and it's my choice to think I don't want to watch him show his privates and say so (I don't want to see yours either, to be honest).

My version of a grown up band would talk about music or maybe politics or current events or something other than a random string of personal life details that make sense to tell friends but seem weird to tell followers watching you. But I said to each her own.

You know I don't get what the big deal is? Sean is just doing what Alan and Bob are doing but in a different way. Okay maybe more like Alan than Bob because it has details of their lives. Just think of it Sean's 'From the Road' but at home. And really he knows that fans are going to be reading it now so he won't post something that he doesn't want us to know.

Maybe it's the sudden change. Not long ago you got in trouble here if you even mentioned Sean's family, the post got deleted and you were told you violated their privacy. I guess that's changed. *shrug*

I agree with Cathy... it's as if all we've EVER learned about "keeping their personal lives personal" is out the window... I don't see how talking about his son consists of publicity, but hey... to each their own...

I'm not following.

Jana, nice to see you here!

Obviously Sean has something to say if he wants to be heard.  How long will it last?  However long he wants it to.

For good or for bad, regardless of what all sides are saying, it is Sean's decision to utilize twitter and let the fans know what is going on.  And if he choses to include personal items, again that is his decision - although I am of the belief that we will be seeing less of that now that his twitting has been made public.

there seems to be alot of twitters... talking about their "family" private lives... why is it that when somebody is "famous" the rules change??? is he not just like the rest of the twitters??? and his choice of that???

If you don't want to follow then don't... but don't be so negative to the people who do... if you want to be a follower then do... it's pretty simple... followers... and not followers... not rocket science... Not everyone followes Alan's FTR.. not everyone followes Bob's soundtracks... so  not everyone is going to follow Sean's twitter thing... no need to get into a flaming war about it... shhheeeshh...

As a very loyal fan of GBS, and a musician for 30 years, here are my thoughts. I have also been a Canadian Actor, and have worked with the Baldwin lads, (Daniel) as doubles. If you have ever followed Alec's website you will know he had to close down this open line category such as this, because of exactly what I have just read. People using it as a chat page. If you are reading these boys, you might want to reconsider this regarding the GBS image.

Horatia, this is exactly what happens. Your comment addressed me personally, and had absolutely nothing to do with this issue that I addressed. That is exactly why I made the statement that I did. This is what happens.

Missed the point?... lets see. You're suggesting that your work had endowed you with a degree of ethos that would suggest that they should consider your advice, though in film, theatre, etc. name dropping will lose you work and get you in trouble... it seems you're definitely someone they want to take advice from.

They're smart people, if its going a way that wasn't intended you can be sure they'll shut it down, they've done it before with other web features, this is likely no different. Get over yourself - you have no greater insight.

I think it's nice to be a little connected to your fans. I mean as long as they are respectful. When you become famous it kind of comes with the package I think.

Some people like twitter, some don't. Some tweets are more articulate than others. So? Some are funny. Some people's updates are quite personal while others breeze through with surface chit chat. Some folks are interactive mutual followers of one another and other folks aren't, preferring to peek in occasionally. Sometimes greatbigsean asks for feedback sometimes he just updates.

As this discussion has shown, some people like the drama of disdain and judgment while others live and let live. That's the beauty of you and me in this life. We each get to choose for ourselves.

Cheers Sean. I'm enjoying it. :D
