The ZooTunes show was great fun, nearly as much fun as you can have on a blanket...!   I have only attended one other concert in a Zoo.  That was back in the early 80's.  I saw The Ramones and the B-52's at the Philadelphia Zoo.  I had a similar thought then "Aww, the poor animals, getting assulted by this music at night...I wonder how they feel about it?"   I didn't feel that with Great Big Sea playing, however!  I think the Walaroos survived, and appreciated the Band choosing to support them.

It sounds like Henry may have started walking, right on schedule. Congratulations!  It is amazing how fast they grow and learn new things at that age.  It must be terribly hard to be away and miss those special moments.  I think I speak for many of us when I say how much we appreciate you being there.  And we, as Moms, certainly can appreciate the scarifices you all make, being on the road and away from your famillies.  However, now that my children are a bit older, I enjoy my little road trips; my little escape from the mundane.
Here's to Good Travel Zen next week and later this month.
Cheers!

Thanks gang for coming to the Zoo!  It may seem like a strange place for a concert, but it worked out well for all of the families, and thankully the rain stopped mid-morning and everything dried out before the concert.  I enjoy your wonderful music, harmonies and the fun style.  I didn't know my wife enjoyed your music too, as she's often around when I play GBS in the office.  We watched all of the children playing, and we were thinking about brining our 3 year old to your next outdoor show in Seattle, but then you teed up 'Straight to Hell' and a number of families (perhaps not as familiar with your music) packed up the blankets.  I'm not a fan of that song, and it made us think twice before bringing our kids, as you may know, or will soon know :) how fast they pick things up.  I want to introduce my children to your music, but I may now have to wait awhile....  I was hoping the Giraffe my have sensed the departures of the young families after the song.  But I thought I would post this so you know.  Perhaps you could skip that one when you are at particularly family-oriented settings.
We LOVED the music, my wife loved the casual setting as we watched the families dance to the jigs and generally enjoy themselves listening to the great beats.  We would have enjoyed hearing 'Come and I Will Sing You', 'Old Polina' and 'Tickle Cove Pond'.  But as you promised 'you didn't suck' and we enjoyed the set.  Looking forward to another sold out show in Seattle...
Cheers!  Safe travels, and enjoy the young one!

Question for Flying Tiger

Songs about getting drunk, roving, knocking on bedroom windows and lying as one, hockey players boinking girls all across the country are okay for the kids but not a song that mentions hell? When has GBS ever played a show designed for kids?

I have to respectfully disagree - there were kids all around our picnic site, dancing and playing for the whole concert - a lyric about hell was not going to injure anyone!!!!

I've seen you several times now, and Stanley Park in BC and the Zoo in Seattle have been my favorites!  I was only sad that you didn't happen into our favorite pub after the show - or if you did, it was LONG after - we were hoping to buy you a pint!

Good follow up to playing Bumbershoot last year even though we had to sit much further back.  Enjoyed the show up to the new song "Straight to Hell".  Passionately disliked it and really hope that it does not appear on the new CD.  I'd be tempted not to buy the CD and instead do something that I have never done before ... Burn a copy from someone else with that song deleted.  All in all though a very enjoyable show though.  Looking forward to your next trip back here.
