Well done sir with the fantastic achievements with Daffodil Place! It is a wonderful organization! Can't wait to see you and the fellas in Bloomington. It'll be my 8 year old sisters first concert, and certainly not her last with GBS. Can't wait to have you all reunited! Take care, be safe, and quit teasing us with all this hints eh! The opening of Daffodil House is truly amazing news. Don't underestimate the role your personality, dedication and fundraising ability (and that of the rest of the GBS team) played in seeing this goal realized a year early. The numerous patients and families will hopefully have one less pain lifted from their shoulders.

and on a lighter note, I say, just for kicks and towards the end of the shoot, you should go to a local city gym or pub, dressed in full medieval getup, and act like nothing's out of the ordinary. I bet some people wouldn't even bat an eye:)

Yes, you did. You all did spectacularly well, both those who raised the funds and those who answered the call. Cause for well-earned pride all around; there are no limits to how much pride you deserve to have coming your way. I am so proud of you, and I know many others are too. Well done, indeed.

Daffodil Place does look grand from the outside, probably even more so on the inside. We drove by there this morning, and it is so impressive, a dream turned into a reality before our eyes...because of the diligent efforts of you and those you worked with to make that dream come true. I'm so sorry you have to miss the Grand Opening - be sure you will be in the thoughts of some of us who are able to be there. You may be in Movie Land on the 12th, but you will be on Ropewalk Lane in spirit and in heart.

I can't think of many better ways to spend your (inevitable) filming downtime than working on new music. And I cannot wait to hear what you've written while there - on the next GBS CD, or wherever else suits it, and you, best. I have a feeling that what you've been working on lately just might be something quite remarkable. Something even more remarkable than your usual, that is.

Would have loved to have seen some of those Power Point presentations - to have seen you in the suit too. Though right now, it would be beyond wonderful just to see you. But that's how it goes with Wandering Minstrels, I suppose - part and parcel of that gig is being missed, being missed very much.

Fantastic news about Daffodil Place! Hats off to all of you for all your efforts! One way of making a most difficult time somewhat easier to bear.

Can't wait to hear some of that new music. Thought of you the other day while listening to my iPod and 3 Doors Down came on with their song Landing in London. It's tough being away from loved ones. In 3 months I'll finally be reunited with the wee ones in our family (including the sweetie I have not met yet). What would we do without the internet?!!! It makes the world so much smaller even when it seems too big to bear.

Alen gald to heear from you and you are coming bace to the Buffalo NY Harbour ins September. You got to watch out for the Horeses in Mud they could come up lame with a Charly Hores and you mite have to udate the song. When your in Buffalo and if you have some time take a vist to Rosswell Park a Cancer Hospital High Street & they have a place called Kevin Guest House for Families from out of town to stay when thier children are in the hospital. Great job on Daffidil Place.
Cant wait ffor the Movie and have a great time doing it.

How about after the Malkin Bowl concerts in Vancouver, you and the lads come and play Nanaimo again. I saw the band there - one of those concerts I had to be dragged to but now I am a huge fan. I had tickets for your show in Vancouver in Dec. 2008 but my husband was diagnosed with cancer and we were unable to make it to the show. We did get to see you in March 2009 in Victoria and have tickets for your Sept. 12 show at the Malkin Bowl in Vancouver. Bravo on Daffodil Place! Cancer patients need all the support they can get. My husband has pancreatic, gall bladder and liver cancer and we get our energy from GBS concerts.

Congrats on Daffodil Place! I wonder how much of that money came from GBS fans around the world...... Of course, I'm sure much of it also came from Newfoundlanders who wanted to help their neighbours. As you said, that is part of the Newfoundland spirit.

It's too bad you can't make the Daffodil Place grand opening, given how involved you've been with the project. Is there any way the movie people would let you have the time off? I know it's not that simple when you're stuck in a filming schedule, but it never hurts to ask........ They let one of the Pirates of the Carribean actors fly home from the Carribean to be there when his wife gave birth.....

I'm glad you can make good use of your downtime on set. I'm also glad that you've found time to continue writing music - it'll probably make the break from GBS somewhat easier. And I think it would be awesome to hear some of those tunes on a GBS CD; I'm sure they're great, as always!

One thing I like about GBS is that you guys never stop. I don't mean that you never take time for yourselves (which we all need); I mean that you're always looking ahead to the next project. You guys have barely finished the Fortunate Tour, but you're already thinking about the next CD. Keep up the music, lads!

And by the way, Alan, I think you'd look good in a suit and tie. Long hair (without the beard) + suit and tie can look really classy. I'm starting to get used to the beard, but I still think you look much better without it.

Daffodil Place will be such a huge burden taken off of the shoulders of those diagnosed with cancer and their families...my one regret is that no one thought of it years earlier. But the fact that it's been done, and done so quickly, speaks well, I think to the character of us Newfoundlanders and our willingness to work hard to get things done.

Hope you're having a ball filming the movie - I'm keeping an eye out for a release date so I can see it.

Wow. That is a fund raising feat. Congratulations to you and everyone involved. I can't help but be inspired by how you choose to step outside of your comfort zone (the movie, the fund raising) and continually expand the world around you as you go. It's cool. :-)

Congrats on the Daffodil place. You're making the world a better place to be. But you already knew that. Your music, as I'm quoting, carries Joy. And what would the world be without joy and helping each other through rough times.

I find it funny that some fellow actors of yours horse ride while waiting. Isn't horse riding considered as a sport. But let me tell you I'm glad that you're writing songs. CT joked with us last week, about what we would do if you decided to solonely pursue your movie star career. Na, you need to make music and perform at shows. And we need it too. ;)

Congrats to you and the band and the fund-raising board for your success with Daffodil Place! Thanks for the update from the road as well. Glad to get the sense that you're missing your "lads"; we're all afraid you'll like acting more than playing and be gone before long!

Congrats, too, on your 40's. Personally, I think they're the best years in life. Still have health and vitality, but you also have decent reasoning ability to figure out what the heck is motivating you most of the time. Keeps you from getting into trouble. No less fun though....just better at not getting caught.

Still looking forward to your visit to Bloomington (Karra...who are you???). Hope that the band resists the conservative types here who might suggest that you skip "Straight To Hell" -- my sister and I were eagerly awaiting it on Friday in Chicago and you must've waited till Saturday night to play it. So, we are hoping to hear it here!!! Also, hoping mightily that you could introduce us to a couple of new songs...perhaps you might float balloons here in Bloomington to test for your new upcoming CD??????

Congrats on the impressive fundraising! Daffodil Place sounds like such a wonderful cause--it's great that you have been so instrumental in getting this up and running. As I've watched my dad battle cancer this spring, I have a new appreciation for centers that deal exclusively with this horrible disease.

And I'm glad that you seem to be enjoying your newest adventure, but I, for one, can't wait for you to return to music. It's not even June yet, and I'm already looking forward to seeing you in Vienna in August. Any chance for a few more "southern" dates this fall? Maybe NC, TN, AL.....(insert Jessica Rabbit's "pppppppppppplllllleease?" here)

Congratulations to you, the lads and your Great Big Give team...you should all be tremendously proud of what you have been able to accomplish and for all the good that will come in the future to those who need care.

Also, a very happy belated birthday! My husband and I will be on vacation in Jolly old England in just two weeks and wish we could take you for a drink to celebrate, but alas you will be busy filming this grand feature and so we will have to wait for your return to Toronto in August to be able to see you again.

I don't mean this to sound condescending, but I am SO very proud of you! Sometime there are no words to convey all that is in ones heart. There is no better feeling than to know you will leave something so wonderful behind that you were a BIG part of bringing into your community - which will provide so much love & support for the days to come to so many. I will still be sending my -belated birthday donation in GBS's honor to Daffodil Place ...even thought they have met their goal, I am sure they will put it to great use, as they have done the prior donations : ) Maybe they can start an instrument fund, so when you & The By's are home, you can do a Kitchen party with the patients and they can join in. I can just see that on someones wish list ... to learn music from the masters ...guitar from Alan : )... the Bohran from Sean ... tin wistle from Bob ...drums from Chris & base from Murray : ) I can see the smiles from ear to ear already! All that musical healing bouncing off the walls!
Fund Raising, you in a suit ...doing power point presentations, Boy that would be priceless to see! : ) Talk about Laugh out Loud ! Maybe that can be re-enacted into a GBS video somewhere...like Sean & Darrel as cops with their donuts bit. Alan, you are so much - NOT "a suit"! Although you could make anything you wear look great...your gigantic heart could NEVER be confined in a suit for very long!
Hope your able to TEVO the Hockey Playoffs for you and Russell to watch during your boredom times- great action. We are hoping the Wings will win when they are back here in Detroit in the coming days - Imagine that, Dan Cleary's name on the cup twice~ Go Newfoundland! Hope you are enjoying some of that hockey action across the pond ~ GO WINGS ...you have really turned me into a fan ! Also hope you have enjoyed a visit from your family to keep your spirit soaring!
