Alan I am exahusted just reading your entry. Can't imagine how you must feel. Your energy is astounding and shines through in everything you do! I am excited with this new venture of yours and proud of your accomplishment. Being from NL myself I am proud of all you guys. Maybe one day the Fair One and Prince can travel with you! All I have to say is thank you. It can't be easy to travel so much, spend so much time away from your family, and be so exhaustingly busy. But you and the b'ys bring a wonderful gift to the world. You are amazing ambassadors for Newfoundland, help spread Newfoundland culture around the world, and provide the world with unending smiles and optimism.

If I lived in Chicago, I totally would've gone to both nights and would've appreciated hearing two different sets of tunes.

Hi Alan, congrats on the movie role! We are looking forward to seeing you and the band tomorrow night in Halifax,not sure if you remember but in October 2002 in Winnipeg we brought our young son Aidan to the concert, who danced and sang on his father's shoulders all night.You said you wished you had his energy! well, he is almost 10 now and we're back on the East coast and he's still a big fan!

The HOB shows were phenomenal. Thank you SO much for all the energy you guys left on that stage - and for the different set lists. One of my favorite GBS concert experiences for sure :)

You always astound me with your energy. Don't know how you keep doing it all, and doing it all so damn well :) Good luck with the rest of the tour - and the movie!

Just don't go all Hollywood, OK? Botox is never worth it, even if they DO offer you a guest-starring role on Desperate Housewives.

Alan....amazing, crazy, and yet, I'm sure this is what makes you the 'you' we all love to watch on stage. I was at the Cedar Falls concert...and truly appreciate the band's willingness to play in these places despite your busy schedule. Amazing to see you live again!

You remind me of all that is good from 'home' (east coast of Canada). Congrats on all your achievements--you work so hard-you deserve it all. I still remember watching you outdoors at McMaster in the fall of 1995 with only a couple hundred kids on a lawn....how far you've come. I hope you survive the Atlantic Canada portion of the tour and make it home to the ones that mean the most to you!

Knock em dead on the big screen...and I'll see you in Virgina in August:-)

Caught you fellows at Bluesfest, then at your Madison, WI show, and then I managed to get down to Chicago to see both nights at the HOB. Am I a lucky girl or what?

This is a thank you to all of you for such great shows and grand evenings. How out of this world to have the throngs of Bluesfest and the ground-shaking bunch in Chicago sharing these moments.

...And the crowd singing "Bohemian Rhapsody" was EPIC. Favorite part was when about half of us did the piano bit, and half of that half started giggling.

Caught both HOB blues shows, and I have to agree, fantastic. Loved the 80s-90s-bohemian rhapsody sing-off. Thanks so much for putting all that effort in during all the travel. Best of luck with the movie project!

We just got back from your awesome show here in Moncton- hell, what energy you guys have. It was a magnificent concert- thanks for it! So sorry we missed your after concert party!! LOL. My husband and I took bets that most likely the place to end up would have been the Auld Triangle? Were we right on that?

We first saw you perform at the Salmon Festival in 1994 when we lived in Gander. Now, as residents of Moncton, we were thrilled to see you here, and thanks for bringing us back to our roots.

Living in the UK we don't get to see you often - though we've been lucky enough to be on Ships & Dip for the last 2 years. At this years songwriters panel you sang a song about Newfoundland joining Canada and it was FANTASTIC - is it available anywhere?
We are very pleased for you and excited about your part in the Robin Hood film and think you will be excellent with your 'natural' storytelling and charm.
We look forward to seeing you when you next come to the UK - or maybe we'll come to see you soon in North America - you're worth the trip!

I was not a true GBS fan. My fiancee is and so with that I gave her a gift of tickets to the March 11th show in Moncton, NB. Well, first I was very excited to see that Spirit of the West was on the ticket. I have enjoyed them for years. Secondly, well....I am now a huge fan. I looked around the venue last night, EVERYONE was up dancing singing and having a swell time. Thank you for a must enjoyable evening.

You sounds like you have a lot on your plate right now. Hopefully a few days at home will give you just enough rest to get through the rest of the tour, and perhaps the movie.

Really looking forward to the show on the 14th, and I know you'll be just great in the Robin Hood movie. You're a star in our eyes no matter what.

Oh and by the way, Happy Belated Birthday to the band. Hope you guys enjoyed your day! Here's to many more years of great music, great times, and a great band who keeps us all happy and sane!

Chicago was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.! Thank you for two nights in a row. It makes a road trip so worth it, when you get to be in the town for a couple days.

I hope you do it again. Chicago is a great place to be.

Even though, the last two times you've been to Chicago, you decided to bring NFLD weather with you. lol.

I wonder what your internal clock is thinking right now, with you, flying all around the world in one week.

Checking in from Vermont, not far from Burlington ... news here that Mayor Kiss got re-elected. You'll need to come back, maybe not for Halloween though. Crazy days for you indeed. But it is so worthwhile to touch so many people in so many places at virtually the same time. It boggles the mind to see so many from all over with a connection to you and the band and these amazing tunes. It's hard to put into words. I don't think magic is a stretch. Just the other day, my 2 year old daughter called to me from the back seat of my car "play that walk on the moon song, mama." I looked in the mirror and pushed the button to track 2 - another fan! Safe travels. Hope you'll make it through New England sometime in 09. Cheers!

All the work that you do, you can see how you affect things around you. Its a wonderful thing to swirl in time, exhausting, low level conciousness, and damn hard work!
I could never keep your schedule.....the world must seem small and full of airplanes and rushed noshes!
I just wanted to thank you for my ticket and the website! the cost of tickets they are selling at the John Labbatt Center is holy moly!
I am so happy to be able to attend the March 19th gig! Alone but happy!
Any chance of a secret pub appearance in London? sssshhhh I wont tell!

You have a heck of a lot on your plate right now but I'm sure you'll manage it in the end. And then take a much needed break now and then to spend it with your friends and family here in Newfoundland to help keep you grounded.

Stick to fruit juices and healthy foods to help keep your energy up. Candy and sweet crap might seem to give you a quick burst but you'll only fizzle out sooner and have one hell of a crash. And with as active as you'll be you don't want a quick sugar rush...but I'm sure you likely already know that ^_^

Wow, reading your blog before the show I would have thought we were in for a no-encore-performance.
2 encores and about 10 songs later (consisting of exactly the songs I had been hoping for) I am in your debt forever. If you played Halifax every night from now until 2020 I would sleep at the Metro Centre.

I was at your Halifax concert last night. It was FANTASTIC!!! You boys may not reaize it but you have helped me in a very big way to get through a very rough time. I have been on dialysis for 12 years, since about last summer things have not been going so well. I have bought a few of your CD's and put them on my ipod. whenever I am feeling low or my positive attitude starts to falter a bit I just listen to you boys and you make feel better deep into my spirit. Your music is so pumped full of energy, When I listen to it I feel like I am borrowing some from you. Your music helps me through the rough times in ways I cannot explain without sounding corny or crazy. I just want to say thank you so very much for just doing what you all do best!

You guys rocked the house in Halifax last night. I was on the floor towards the back and as soon as i heard "rant and roar Newfoundlanders" I was wiping my eyes on my Newfoundland flag I held in my lap. I had myself booked on a crossing from North Sydney to visit home (Twillingate) before I got to bed last night. Thanks for reminding me how much I miss Newfoundland, I think I was starting to forget. You were all incredible, the best Kitchen party I've been to in a while!
